About Me

Gozde ROBIN
Currently, I work for the CRICAO Association as the manager for the European Creative Quarters Project. (www.cricao.org) In addition, I am the founding president of ARTIT Association and its artistic director. (www.theartit.org) Also, I have a position as one of the coordinators for the International Istanbul Biennial, Canakkale Biennial and International Canakkale Children's Biennial. (http://14b.iksv.org/) My experience as a cultural manager in cross-border art projects dates back to 2004, when I successfully applied for an EU grant for a project called “Camera: Here I am” in which a documentary and a short movie were shot. The project was awarded the most successful EU Youth project in 2005 by the Turkish National Agency. This award motivated me greatly to develop further international projects through which I could address socially disadvantaged groups using art as a means of approach. I also developed a curiosity about prisons, when an orphan from the orphanage, in which we ran the above project, was given a custodial sentence. Thus, in September 2006, I travelled to the UK to take part in a EU project called “Everythingispossible@Yorkshire prisons” in a Youth Prison, where art is used as a means of education and rehabilitation. I returned to Turkey in 2007 and established an association in Canakkale (Troy) with an aim to make use of the experience that I had gathered in the UK. This association is the origin of today’s the ARTIT association. In May 2007, I was offered a job by Canakkale University to set up a new unit to promote the EU Culture Programme and provide consultancy to students and academicians. Later that year, I also contributed to setting up a Support Centre for Disabled Students. After 4 years of intense work with the EU Culture Programme, I wanted to improve my academic knowledge of EU Culture Policy. Thus, In 2009 I pursued a Master’s degree in European Studies at Bogazici University, Istanbul and meanwhile worked for the Enterprise Europe Network. In February 2011, I started to work for the Ministry of Regional Development and Public Works, Bulgaria, as a controller for the Bulgaria-Turkey Cross Border Programme. I also continued my studies at Uppsala University, Sweden (2011-2012) with a focus on EU Cultural Policy and European Integration and at the University of Strasbourg, France, with a focus on the contextual art history of Europe, in order to trace methods of using the fine arts as a unifying element and a mechanism of integration. (2012-2013)
