About Me

I'm just a human who likes a good adventure and connecting with people. Forever on a journey to be in the present.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I joined a long time ago because I drove with some friends to visit Portland, and, like stupid 19 year olds, we realized we didn’t have a place to stay. We found a last minute couch surfing host - it was a huge house, and we slept on the floor in his unfinished attic, but it was so drafty and cold that we all piled on top of each other to stay warm. Our host was also having a rager that night, so between the cold and the noise, none of us slept.

Despite the no sleep, it was unforgettable. I was so enchanted with the unpredictability of the whole experience that I became pretty embedded in the CS community for a while.

Interests

I enjoy experiencing whatever is right in front of me - good, bad and ugly! But when I do have opportunities to curate my experiences, they involve exploring everything (mountain canyons and peaks, bookstores, the ocean floor, hidden streets, the countryside), eating or making delicious food, my (or your) dogs, live and loud music, speculating with new friends about why we are all spinning on this rock in space, sitting quietly listening to music and people-watching, riding my motorcycle, swimming, learning something new, driving a fast car fast, playing games, consuming art or media, creative writing

Music, Movies, and Books

Few things make me feel more alive and connected than the right music and the right time. As such, my taste varies quite a bit, but my usual suspects are: underground hip hop, dark/moody instrumental, synth wave electronic, acoustic folk / singer-songwriter

My favorite movie is Drive

A bit cliché but one of my favorite books is East of Eden

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

How about more than one?
Went to Paris for a week and didn’t see the Eiffel tower 🫣
Night diving with 30-ft manta rays in Hawaii
Lived in a tent in the mountains for 4 months
Trail running the Nu’alolo Loop on the Na Pali Coast
Skiing in 6 feet of powder on a blue bird day
Surviving and escaping the religious cult I was born into
Camping road trip down the whole coast of California

Teach, Learn, Share

I could pretty effectively be your armchair therapist

I know quite a bit about dog training / behavior change

I used to be a ski and snowboard instructor. Would be happy to teach!

I’m a career marketer and business strategist and analyst, so I could teach quite a bit in that domain

I’m not a yogi but I’ve been around yoga my whole life and could easily teach a beginner about poses and proper form

I’ve recovered from so many sports injuries that I am quite knowledgeable about the biomechanics of the body, KT taping and physical therapy - if you have an injury and tell me about it, it would be hard for me to resist giving unsolicited advice

I’m great at cooking a pretty good creative meal with just whatever ingredients are on hand

I ride a motorcycle and can teach you how (or teach you how to drive a manual transmission car)

Countries I’ve Visited

Argentina, Canada, France, Germany, Italy, Mexico, Spain, Vatican City State

Countries I’ve Lived In

Mexico, Spain, United States
