About Me
Hello friends!
I'm an adventurous easygoing Emerald Islander having recently returned home from an epic 13 month overland voyage of South America, Bolivia to Colombia (I like to travel really slowly to fully appreciate the culture of each place I visit). Going backpacking was the best thing I've ever experienced, I've fallen totally in love with the ancient magical land and it's people and I hope to return some day to see the rest. I've been left with a thirst to explore as much of planet earth as I possibly can! To make this happen I like to skimp and rough it wherever I can, take overnight buses, hitchhike and eat aaall the street food, (and my fair share of ramen) volunteer, camp and couchsurf. After 8 months of reconnecting with my little green homeland, I am off on a wee adventure in California!
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
Having couchsurfed a couple of times so far, I can say that it is always an unique and rich experience. An unforgettable memory was couchsurfing in beautiful city of Arequipa which somehow turned into a two month stay with our host becoming like an adoptive Peruvian dad to us, despite him not having a word of English and our horrendous beginners Spanish!(it improved exponentially during our time there) We were all in floods of tears saying goodbye to each other after so many weeks, and a piece of my heart will remain in that place forever. Couchsurfing is the perfect way to meet new friends, make the best travel stories, find tips from local people and understand local culture in a way that you cannot get from staying in hotels and hostels. Best way to travel!
Interests
South America has really brought out the adventure junkie in me which I didn´t know was there before! Trekking, camping, exploring beautiful new landscapes, rafting, biking, flying through the air on a zipline have become some of my favourite things! I also have a lifelong passion of creating things with my hands, along with reading, drawing, journaling and writing poems, I guess I am hooked on learning new things and I am a person who is seldom bored! Music is also my lifeblood I am always eager to find and share, although any attempts at learning instruments have been disastrous. And of course meeting new friends along the road, sending out positive vibes and my favourite activity of all - having a good laugh :)

Music, Movies, and Books
I've an eclectic taste in music and am open to genres of all kinds. Lately I've been loving disco, especially disco from Africa. I also love reggae, dub, world grooves, funk, soul, rock'n roll and my guilty pleasure of cheesy 90´s anthems :)
My favourite films are slick and darkly comic, Fight Club, Snatch and Filth being probably my top three. I also love adventure movies, psychological thrillers, freaky space films and anything with robots in :D
I've recently binged on all the Game of Thrones books which were totally life changing! I also love Harry Potter and recently have been getting into adventure books like the Gringo Trail and Into Thin Air which were awesome!
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
Had a humpack whale wink at me. Volunteered with the incredible organization "All Hands" for one month building homes for victims of the earthquake in Canoa, Ecuador. Swimming with sea turtes in Mancora. Had a festival outfit I made on page 3 of a national newspaper. Watched a neon sunrise over Croagh Patrick. Saw 'The Wailers' live in an ancient Roman amphitheatre in Pula, Croatia. Swimming with bio-luminescent plankton in Colombia. Licked mint flavoured ants from a tree and had piranhas and bananas for breakfast in the Amazon Rain-forest. Stargazing in the Atacama desert. Having a mud war at a New Years eve party in the Colombian jungle. Catching a firefly in my hands
