About Me

I’m from a small town in Mississippi, but I consider myself a child of the world. One of my greatest goals is to explore the world while adding on to my global family. I believe we are all in this together, and while we are all born into this world without choosing many details about our lives, we have a choice to see past those things and realize there is more that connects us. I have a heart for the world; exploring, adventure, openness, newness, wonder, wander, and I also have a heart for home; family, rituals, tradition, belonging, and familiarity. I really enjoy solitude, but I also really enjoy getting to know people. I’m full of contradictions :P. I greatly enjoy the multifaceted nature of life, and being a multifaceted person.
Currently I’m living in South Korea teaching English!

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

Couchsurfing culture is so interesting! It is for the outgoing and charismatic, and for the shy and introverted...and everyone in between.
I love to see the culture of trust that people have through couchsurfing, it shows a beautiful faith in humanity.

Interests

I have an insatiable curiosity. I absolutely love to learn about anything and everything. My “to learn” list is much longer than my spare time. I also really enjoy the outdoors. I’m obsessed with anything ancient; religions, culture, history, ruins, rituals, etc. I got my degree in Anthropology. I enjoy a good drink and company, my thoughts, art, music, or a good book. I love exercising, including running, martial arts, yoga, hiking, swimming, etc. I am not really a city person, although I enjoy some aspects of the city like nightlife, and food. I don’t like shopping, but I do like Pinterest. I absolutely love to dance, especially salsa. One day I would like to learn belly dancing, Bollywood dancing, and the Argentinian tango. I’ve taken a Bollywood dance class before, and it was a blast. I’ve also taken a hula class from a native Hawaiian. A group of us performed it, and it was a blast. I have a ukulele, and I’m going to learn one day. I’m so aware that my massive amounts of interests spread me way too thin, but hey, I wouldn’t have it any other way.

Music, Movies, and Books

My current favorite movie is another earth. It's a powerful story of redemption and hope. I also like: what we do in the shadows, equilibrium, Lord of the Rings, Harry Potter, underworld, kill bill, a few good men, band of brothers, Shawshank redemption, good will hunting, it’s a wonderful life, stardust, pride and prejudice. Shows: daredevil, Alias, Homeland, Brooklyn nine-nine, the office, community, new girl, Scott and Bailey, Sherlock, endeavor, law and order criminal intent, and parks and recreation! Music; if it has good words, a good beat, or just raw passion I'll probably like it. Every mood has its own beat. I like ARIZONA, first aid kit, civil wars, Mumford and sons, classical, folk, BUNT, Ella Vos, lumineers, Ray lamontagne, Beyonce, Miranda Lambert, Adele, Cardi B, Hozier, little big town, odesza, sam Smith, Vallis alps, Xavier Rudd, Chris Stapelton, Kendrick Lamar, misterwives, Khalid, Brett Dennen, Maren Morris, wrabel, gryffin, Kacey musgraves, Elle henderson, Jack Garrett and a million more. Like I said, if it has passion and truth, I’m interested. I love to read. I enjoy both fiction and non-fiction. I’m currently reading guns germs and steel (history), the rose hotel (memoir of Rahimeh Andalibian), the best American shorts stories 2011 (for the beautiful Chimamanda), and elevation (my first stephen king!) But I probably won’t update this when I’m finished with them.
