I am a 30 year old British girl, currently travelling and volunteering in Central and South East Asia.

I am a qualified social worker and have taken a years sabbatical to learn about social work internationally and to share my skills but also to acquire new ones.

As a traveler I love going to new places and meeting new people.

I am a friendly and confident person who has a positive and relaxed outlook on life.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I love travelling and I think the best way to truly learn about a country is to meet and spend time with people from that country. I have only just discovered couch-surfing and I think its a perfect way to experience a different country. I am currently travelling abroad and therefore have not had a chance to host people in my own country but I am looking forward to doing when I return.

I enjoy volunteering for similar reasons but as a social worker it is also a way of developing my current skills.

Interests

- Sports - My main love is cycling, road and mountain biking. I am also a keen hiker. I also love running and hiking.

- Music - I love listening to music and going to see live music

- Meeting new people and learning about different cultures

- Food - I love cooking and eating - I like learning to cook something new and trying new food.

What I Can Share with Hosts

The main thing I I hope I could share with hosts is my love for travelling, interest in other cultures and information about my own culture. As a native English speaker I can help if someone is learning or developing their English. As a social worker Ii can also share my professional related skills which is supporting children and families in poverty and support with children who have disabilities.

I have spent the last 3 months volunteering and have become involved with several different projects including:

- Teaching English to children (between 2 and 14) in an orphanage and school in India Supporting 13 children (between 6 and 13) in an orphanage. A main part of my role was supporting teachers to explore alternative ways of communicating with disabled children.

- Facilitated after school clubs for children in tribal villages.

- Utilising social media I fund raised to raise funds to build new water wells. In turn I trained the local staff to improve their with fundraising skills.

- I spent a week living with a family in a remote village in the Indian Himalayas supporting the locals to further understanding the importance of acting in environmental friendly ways.
