About Me
I'm currently travelling Europe for 4 months on my own!
I'm more or less fresh out of high school. I'm taking a gap year before I go back to university. (I'll probably be taking engineering.) For the most part of this year I've been working my tail off trying to save up enough money for this trip.
I've been playing guitar for 8 years now and currently have one with me. I love sing alongs.
This September I will be studying engineering in Canada somewhere (narrowed down to either UBC or Western.)
I've been involved in a organization called CISV for the last 5 years. There are a series of international camps attended by youth from 11 years old all the way up to adults. In the camps the participants discuss multiple different subject areas, namely sustainable development, diversity, human rights, and conflict and Resolution. Being involved in CISV has drastically impacted my view of the world, on account of being in such close quarters with other people from around the world. It has also given me the travel bug that has sent me on this crazy adventure.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
I've come to 2 realizations: 1. Traveling on my own isn't really as much fun as I thought it'd be and therefore I'm looking for any excuse to have to talk to people/locals and 2. Traveling is really expensive, especially accommodation. Couch surfing seems like a relatively simple way to remedy both those problems.
I also think there's a way of seeing a new city that only someone who lives there can experience. I hope to be able to share that as well as get to know some new friends.
Interests
Back home I enjoy biking, both mountain and road biking. My family owns a little 4 meter long power boat that we take out on the lake a lot. We waterski and wake board behind it as well as tow each other around on giant inflatable tubes at ridiculously high and unsafe speeds trying to nock whoever is being towed off. As mentioned before guitar as well as singing are a large part of my life.
Last June my brother and I pooled our money and bought a 3d printer. This has really allowed me to create things that I would have never dream were possible. I really enjoy creating things from nothing that way. It's so freaking cool!

Music, Movies, and Books
Music: I love classic rock, led Zeppelin, Pink Floyd, the Beatles etc. But I'm also into new alternative such as Alt. J, Awolnation, city and colour etc. Music tastes are always changing though so any insight into new music is greatly appreciated!
Movies (in no particular order) : Star Wars, (of course) Interstellar, Slum Dog Millionaire. Basically those are the ones that I can think of right now but I really enjoy anything that makes me think or laugh.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
Went scuba diving in Mexico with my family! What a surreal experience.
Teach, Learn, Share
It's nearly impossible to play guitar for 8 years without having to teach a few cords along the way. That being said though, it's a two way street and I'm always looking to expand my repertoire.
I also enjoy sharing stories about my travels and life back home.
What I Can Share with Hosts
Although some may offer up their amazing cooking or at least a special recipe I am not one of those. (I've had the same sandwiches for the last week.) I would like to think, however, that I'm fairly easy to talk to. I enjoy a good conversation about anything really and if that fails then I always have my guitar as a backup plan.
