About Me

CURRENT MISSION

ABOUT ME

Well, I can be a bit of a goof, in maybe a cheesy dad-joke kind of way. I tend to be the resident funny man at my places of employment. Although sometimes I have to warm up and get a feel for an environment first.

I've been told I have a calming effect for some people, though I think it's just because I have my head on my shoulders and am pragmatic.

PHILOSOPHY

To be a positive force in the world, to live with integrity, curiosity and compassion, and keep negativity from seeping into my actions.

"Man did not weave this web of life. He is merely a strand of it. Whatever he does to the web, he does to himself."

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I've hosted and been hosted. All good experiences.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

Surfed in Europe for a couple months. Met many gracious and hospitable folks, and I'm the same when people stay on my couch.

Interests

Guitar, Michigan beers, photography, bicycling, house/dance music, reading, basic income grants, both the limits of human endurance and moderation.

"The road of excess leads to the palace of wisdom" - William Blake

Music, Movies, and Books

I'm not a big movie watcher, not that I have anything against it, I just don't rent or or go out to see them often.

Music: A lot of 80's funk and house music, The Smiths, MBV, hip hop, 80's and 90's alternative and shoegaze bands. Indie, Grindcore, Thrash, Country, Folk, Industrial and Psychedelic have their rotation on my library.

Books: Charles Bukowski has a special place on my bookshelf, Dostoyevsky, John Robbins, social theory stuff.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Survived a coma!

Teach, Learn, Share

I need to learn more German/French/Spanish, gardening, sewing, and arpeggios!

I'm a decent cook, but a better comedian.

What I Can Share with Hosts

Tons of puns.

Canada, Denmark, Germany, Hungary, Mexico, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland
