About Me

CURRENT MISSION

To discover a purpose after nearly 4 years on the road with my motorcycle

ABOUT ME

Adventure motorcyclist, philosopher, seeker of the peace, soldier of fortune, all round good guy, bears wrestled, tightropes walked, equations solved, virgins enlightened, tigers castrated, bars dried, governments run, test rockets flown, worlds second greatest lover, outrageous liar, with a lust for Life

In May 2008 I flew to California and bought a motorcycle. Since then I have riden it through North & South America living my dream. I have visited all 23 countries in North & South America: I've crossed The Andes and The Amazon; I've dodged Tornado's and landslides; I've seen Jaguar and bears; but most of all I met wonderful people everywhere I went.

I inter-railed in Europe when I was a student, and I've also backpacked across five continents courtesy of a Round-The-World flight.

During my travels I have been blown away by the warmth and generosity of people I've met on the road who have opened their home or life to me. I have laughed, danced and drank wine with strangers in so many countries.

I don't smoke, I support Arsenal football club, I'm a proud Londoner, I laugh at myself and I love music.

PHILOSOPHY

Don't trust someone that doesn't smile

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

Sometimes I couchsurf, sometimes I join in with the local community meetings and sometimes I just meet up with couchsurfers for a drink. It's not all about sleeping on a couch, couchsurfing offers its members a great way to learn more about the cultures that they travel to.

My experience with the CS community in Sao Paulo went beyond words. Their warmth and hospitality was incredible.

Whenever I make contact with a CS'er I never send out generic or multiple requests; I always read someone's profile first to figure out what we might get out of a meeting. I have stayed in a student house full of musicians, I've stayed with families, I have Couchsurfed with single women and a gay man; so no matter who you are or what your background is please feel comfortable to contact me... I just ask that when you contact me you make it clear that you've read my profile.

Interests

Cooking curry, watching documentaries, caressing my motorcycle, dancing like my dad, travel (clearly!), video editing (I like to video my travel adventures), conversation - I'll happily talk to myself if no one will listen(!), football - that'll be "soccer" to those of you from countries that don't play it. Oh and I sponsor a couple of girls through school in Guatemala so try not to mention the "G" word unless you want me to bore you about the project that they study at!

Music, Movies, and Books

Good Times... samba, ska, funk, soul, house, electronica, jazz... in fact I like anything with soul... it's all about the Soul. Ray Charles, James Brown, Sam Cooke, Etta James, Aretha Franklin, Stevie Wonder, Jill Scott, Arykah Badu, Mary J... blah blah blah

A few of my less embarrassing film favourites...
The Shawshank Redemption; The Worlds Fastest Indian, The Beach; The Motorcycle Diaries; Life is Beautiful; A Room With A View; City of God; Into the Wild, Slumdog Millionaire... and The Sound of Music is my embarrassing guilty pleasure!

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I spent four months volunteering at an incredible school project in Guatemala, a country that has one of the highest levels of child malnutrition in the world. Amazing experience; I've never been subjected to so much love and affection in my life
