About Me

We are Grant and Blaire! I (Grant) am a language nerd and freelance translator. I'm also teaching myself gardening and sustainability: we have a garden and another plot of land for a community garden in Kalamazoo.
Blaire has a green thumb and has grown copious amounts of basil and peppers from our garden.

We are both LGBTQ+ and have left-wing politics and would love to meet like-minded people.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

Surfing, learning from my hosts, expanding my faith in humanity, sharing anything I learn that may help others.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I've used Couchsurfing multiple times in France (Paris, Rennes, Vanne, Lyon) and never had a bad experience. I've hosted people one time, and, weirdly enough, have never been hosted in the U.S. - yet!

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Struck out on my own, arriving in Paris with no more than $100 in my pocket, winging and roughing it as I went. I met some greatly gentle and kind people on that trip without whom I would surely not have made it back!

Teach, Learn, Share

I know tidbits of various languages, and would open to building on what I already know, and to learning some more of other languages.

I can cook well enough; nothing gourmet, but I like Italian food, and can cook various dishes.

What I Can Share with Hosts

Curiosity, a desire to learn and share, and time to cook together, if you're into it!

Countries I’ve Visited

Canada, France, Iceland, Netherlands, United Kingdom, United States
