About Me
CURRENT MISSION
My short-term goals are to learn Portuguese, play capoeira, travel with my unicycle, and to try all of the amazing popsicle flavors in Brazil!
ABOUT ME
I am drawn to challenges, and happiest when I'm constantly learning. Some past and present things I do for fun: unicycling, capoeira, dancing samba, rueda de casino and salsa, motorcycling, traveling, hiking, running, knitting, sailing, skateboarding, reading the Economist, burning man, canasta, and playing the one chord I know on my harmonica while making up ridiculous rhymes.
PHILOSOPHY
"If it's not fun, why do it?" -- Jerry Greenfield (of Ben & Jerry's).
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE
My first CS experience was on a recent trip to India. My sister and I stayed with Amisha and her lovely family in Jaipur, who taught us to fly kites from their rooftop. Staying with a family was worlds better than the hostel we'd been in Delhi! It definitely sold both of us on CouchSurfing.
Interests
Professionally, I'm interested in connecting user-centered design with technological applications, including mobile health and applied medical technology.
Outside of work, I generally like learning anything that requires pushing my limits. Especially complex motor skills (dance, capoeira, unicycling, etc)...

Music, Movies, and Books
I love Brazilian and Cuban music, soca, zouk and other Caribbean music, and a bunch of African stuff (especially hiplife!).
I'm currently obsessed with Bollywood movies. Current fav: Dhoom 2.
As for books, I'm a voracious reader and will read anything you stick in my hands. I also love the Economist and xkcd.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
Swimming in the bioluminescent waves at night, during a red tide in San Diego.
Teach, Learn, Share
I can teach you about: unicycling, neuroscience, baking bread, dancing salsa, knitting.
I always love to learn new forms of dance, new languages, and about different cities.
