Arrived in Taiwan a few weeks ago and am currently hopping around, but will be in Keelung for a little bit.

I'm a university student from the United States studying Computer Science and Chinese. I saved up the money in the last few years and decided to take a semester off and use some of it traveling around. I previously lived in different parts of Asia when I was 19 and in a scholarship, one of which was Taiwan, which inspired me to start learning Chinese.

I've had so many different odd jobs as different times in my life. From teaching to working on kale farms to modeling (one of my photos was actually in GQ Germany). I love finding new things to do and be able to say that I did.

I'm open to just about anything, I'm very firmly in the camp that we only have so much time and to waste it on uninteresting things is not the life I would like to live. I have an innumerable amount of stories from simply saying yes to plans on the fly and would like to go everywhere I can and experience as much as I can.

I want to experience as much as I possibly can in the time that I have and can't think of a better way then spending time with as many people as I can in the places that I go.

I run my university's competitive ballroom dance team which is really dumb but I love dance with a passion. Salsa or Bachata or any other dances will always be a yes from me. Dances I know well: Samba, ChaCha, Rumba, Jive, Swing, Bachata
Dances I can pretend I know: Waltz, Foxtrot, Quickstep, Tango, Salsa

I carry books with me wherever I go in case other travelers would like to trade, I'm currently lugging 9 different books with me right now which is really bulky, heavy and inefficient. I also brought my really old copy of the Rubaiyát of Omar Khayyám in case I end up in Samarkand which is a dream of mine.

Modeling is also really fun and I have a lot of stories about that, I only do it rarely and for really small shoots but it's still something fun and something I can share stories about.

Another passion is trying new foods, I will try almost any sort of food at least once and have not found something that I really really don't like yet (though an avocado milkshake in Vietnam came close). Cooking is very important to me and I love cooking for other people.

I'm also into like collecting perfumes for some reason, I only brought 2 with me on this trip but I like to try new fragrances and wear different things depending on the occasion. I'm planning on going to this very specific fragrance shop in Taipei to find this very specific fragrance that's only at this one shop in Taipei specifically, but is apparently very famous.

I listen to everything and I believe I will be able to relate to anyone. My current favorite genre is Arabic Jazz but I love everything and can ramble about weird music for a long time.

My favorite book is 100 Years of Solitude by Gabriel Garcia-Marquez which I brought with me, I also have a copy of The Unbearable Lightness of Being and an old copy of the Rubaiyát. Reading is a passion of mine and I would have majored in English if I had known at the beginning of university. I also have my 'goodbye book' which is a journal I carry with me that I have people sign if they've had a large effect on me and due to circumstances might never see each other again.

I unfortunately don't really watch much TV or many movies but I'd be open to watching anything. I love going to the theater and don't get to enough.

The most amazing thing I've done was simply leaving my hometown. I grew up in extremely rural North Carolina in the United States, there were 30 people in my high school and everyone in my family has only ever farmed tobacco. I found a scholarship after I got into uni that let me leave the country, go anywhere and do essentially anything as long as I planned it. I went to Vietnam alone and I've never been the same since.

I've done many other crazy things but nothing could go above what it took to do that when I was 19 and new to everything.

I have a TEFL certification and used to teach English when I was younger and can help with language exchange. I'm open to learning anything from anyone, and can offer stories of my own in exchange. I'd love to practice my Mandarin, and my books are always open to be shared.
