About Me

CURRENT MISSION

Have fun and exhaust the world's supplies of fun-ness. Oh and learn stuff.

ABOUT ME

I do research on wireless communications (cognitive radio, specifically). I also make music and have a few record deals, and perform out-n-about (wherever I can). I also work for my school's (Rice) FM radio station, running a DJ-mixed show.

The most fun/cool places I've performed would be a big club in Beijing, a hacking convention in Las Vegas, and an anime convention in the basement of a huge convention center here in Houston.I like going to gritty warehouse parties/raves over high-end pretentious clubs (though I don't mind that so much either).

I also cook! I love all kinds of food and am very adventurous, but my favorites are Japanese food and Mexican food. Sometimes I submit recipes to opensourcefood.com.

Overall - I'm very laid back and love meeting new people. Other DJs sometimes crash in my apartment when they come to town.

I don't have many pet-peeves. Just some basic common sense stuff - I'm cool with people using my stuff and eating my food, but be respectful (ie: clean up and don't break stuff). No bringing people back unless I'm told in advance. No being creepy. No extending your stay!

PHILOSOPHY

Life is a playground/sandbox that you have a limited time to play in. Might as well make the most of it! Oh, and I believe in trying to make an impact on the world in a positive way.

Music, Movies, and Books

Books: Neal Stephenson and William Gibson (cyberpunk)

Movies: Hackers, Trainspotting, The Matrix, Equilibrium, or anything with a banging electronic music soundtrack.

Music: A lot of stuff, bar most country music. Infatuated with electronic music of all sorts - though breaks especially. I'm still down with housey-house, progressive house, trance, psytrance, etc. etc. etc. etc.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Seen: The Great Wall @ Simatai - and sat through a thunder-storm on the mountain, hiding in one of those guard-houses.

Done: Headlined a DJ show at one of the largest clubs in Beijing to a whistling + screaming crowd of about 1000, who, for the most part, didn't know who I was, other than that I was just the "headliner." The miracles of good marketing...

Teach, Learn, Share

I have 8+ years experience in electronic music production. I can teach you how to make music on your computer :)
