Began my PhD program in the fall and trying to travel as much as I can and have a normal life :)!

ABOUT ME

Moved to Ann Arbor from DC in 2015 for graduate school. Lived in DC for two years proir to work in international health. I was a Peace Corps community health volunteer in a small, rural community in Morocco from 2011-2013. I love to travel and eat good food and love learning from and about others.

I have hosted and surfed with couchsurfing and find both to be equally enjoyable!

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

CouchSurfing is really wonderful. It is a great way to travel and meet others and helps me to remember to believe in the good in other people! I have had both amazing hosts and guests and count CouchSurfing as an important aspect in my life.

Interests

Music, Movies, and Books

Books: Nine Stories, A Movable Feast, classics, R.Dahl books, Grapes of Wrath, the Toughest Indian in the World, Ishmael, Franny and Zooey, Gone with the Wind, the Lord of the Rings, Harry Potters, Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas, Extremely Loud and Incredibly Close, War and Peace, Shadow of the Sun

Movies: Wall-E, Audrey Hepburn films, Some Like it Hot, the Lives of Others, the Edukators, Pulp Fiction, Superbad, Lord of the Rings, Pan's Labyrinth, Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind, Crash, Little Miss Sunshine, Motorcycle Diaries, Lawrence of Arabia, the Apartment, Juno; I love classic films, especially with the likes of Cary Grant, Audrey Hepburn and Marilyn Monroe, though I also enjoy a ton of more modern films...I have a lot of free time so I watch a lot of movies and am always looking for recommendations.

Music: I love lots of different types of music including but not limited to Sufjan Stevens, Radiohead, Elliot Smith, Iron and Wine, Jens Lekman, Adele, Lady Gaga, Arcade Fire, catchy pop songs, Sam Cooke, the Temptations, Ratatat

stood 50 feet from wild elephants in Ghana; lived in a rural community in Morocco for two years

Teach, Learn, Share

I can teach some simple things about music and/or flute playing. I can also crotchet. If you want to learn a few key phrases in Moroccan Arabic, I can hook you up. I've really learned a good deal about photography in the last few years and can teach some basics if you're interested.
