About Me

CURRENT MISSION

to subtly assimilate earthling culture without alerting any earthlings to my presence

ABOUT ME

I have never E=V-E-R been offered a place to stay when i have traveled.
My opinion of CS is starting to change - so very many self-serving individuals, and so few caring humans.
I have hosted many times myself, but it seems no one wants to know me apart from providing a roof for them when it is opportune.
If you are a Host who doesn't just want 'hot chicks' to stay with you .. if you are one of the very rare few who doesn't ignore everyone else, please think about letting me stay with you, or perhaps just meeting up for a coffee.

******************************

I like Judge Judy. Don't call me when that show is on because i won't answer.
3.oo-3.30pm most weekdays.

PHILOSOPHY

i seriously honestly love this sentiment so much .. please re-read it a dozen times at least - with different inflections and intent:

Life leads the thoughtful man on a path of many windings.
Now the course is checked, now it runs straight again.
Here winged thoughts may pour freely forth in words.
There the heavy burden of knowledge must be shut away in silence.
But when two people are at one in their inmost hearts,
They shatter even the strength of iron or of bronze.
And when two people understand each other in their inmost hearts,
Their words are sweet and strong, like the fragrance of orchids.

- and also i try to Learn from my mistakes : but sometimes the hardest bit can be figuring out exactly what was the crucial aspect that you need to learn to learn from. where the message really sits -

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

short-term i'm thinking that i'm a bit of an enabler .. so its gratifying to be able to help economise on costs en route .. and to offer perhaps a less-populated human environment for a day or two .. to chill or to organise or base-station.
Much better if you are interested in actively exploring hobart and tas though. i don't need much incentive to oblige anyway i can.
And its been a lot of fun for me too / i like the idea of having a reason to show off this beautiful state and its attractions to people who can appreciate it

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

i have met some amazing people through CS, and i find they are often gracious and charming, and add to the richness of my own life experience.
Have never met one single person, or have been offered somewhere to stay while travelling overseas myself .. so i am very alert to an intrinsic self-interest of many couchsurfers ... sometimes i think those very same rude people that i might see at a youth hostel could actually be CS patrons, but they selectively make a conscious decision to be "extra nice" to their host.
If that's correct its a sad aspect of CS.

Music, Movies, and Books

Movies: yes i like them a lot especially in High Definition and the volume up loud, with a glass of frangelico over ice with a twist of lime.
Books: I read mainly tech manuals these days apart from the occasional MagicRealism-style novel.
music : i live for music.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

i invented the modern system of Mathematics, and also the move towards Agriculture from hunter-gatherer societies. Wasn't really thinking about patents and trademarks at the time, the usual story.
updates:
i shouldnt dwell in the past so much. The following is not in any order of importance, or of chronology !
More recently:
1 - i caretook a private tropical island for a millionaire for a year. Pay was crap but he only visited five weekends or so and it was my place the rest of the time and was heavenly. runabouts and windsurfers and two dwellings. 60 mango trees all in fruit at the same time. peacocks crowing on the roof at dawn and greeting the sunrise yoga. fresh bread in a dutch oven. 25 nautical miles from the nearest big-ish nth.queensland resort town, but i could also wade to the beach during low tide, and cycle in if i didnt want to sail or motor. motored back in a fast runabout in a cyclone and was just so utterly exhilirating plane-ing along the tops of huge long sustained swells alone in such massive winds and wondering if i would get back alive. A towering-roiling-dark-gray sea and only 10 more kms to go.
2 - kissed a girl for the first time
3 - fell in love
4 - first man to legitimately concieve and give birth but it was all hushed up. And if you are wondering - i adopted out. Good home.
5 - met a taurean girl
6- other girls
7 - discovered i liked bottoms
8 - ate my own weight in canetoads without ill effects
9 - dove for sea urchins as a commercial diver and saw millions and millions of tiny microscopic clear jellyfish floating in orchestrated and spaced unison in crystal clear water and just seeming to go on forever in every direction. Hyper clear visibility and with that wonderful underwater magnifying effect its even more vivid and intense.
Totally surreal and peaceful, other worldly ... and just transporting. A more accessable local version of space-travelling to a different world is probably out there but that was it for me.
Attenborough HD - but even moreso.
10 - An old man on an oxygen tank who was crying at his grandchild's gift
11 - old men and women generally
12 - acts of kindness understanding and largesse that you would never expect from someone that has been badly wronged and should probably show a righteous anger. Thats an eyeopener if ever you are lucky enough to see that.
13 - The Residents with Snakefinger performing live at the Jet Club in Surfers Paradise after mexican food.
14 - First threesome
15 - Attempted a push bike tour of coastal eastern australia from Hobart to darwin via Birdsville. We never finished it
16 - Learning to swim
17 - Breaking my ankle at 18 months ... i remember this and also the night before as one clear memory but soundless and with no agony sounds just looking up at the doorknob and hoping it would turn. And so much more detail in there earlier too all because it was stored real well.
18 - Having a stroke and recovering
19 - Partying out so much i had a stroke
20 - Realising eating too much cheese had inflammed my anus and surrounds needlessly for over 20 years. Simple fix but who would'a thought?
21 - Living with my gf for 6 months under a tent and tarps at a beach with lots of beautiful nude hippies from all over the world. very close to Cairns and back when you could still do that somewhere and not get moved on. Been redeveloped since.
22 - Played music for people
23 - Channelling my spirit guide the Queen of Sheba
24 - I saw some strange goop on a fence and a plant
25 - Bottoms. mentioned that already. right. sorry. i really dont have a disproportionate interest just repeating myself thats all. just vagued out there for a moment. honestly.
26 - Learnt to be brief
