About Me
CURRENT MISSION
To explore the world. Meet people. Contribute something.
ABOUT ME
I'm a semi-itinerant, activist, trader, musician. Like anyone, a mash of contradictions. Two defining qualities would have to be: not taking life too seriously, and 'carpe diem'- you only get one life (probably), squeeze as much as you can into it... you're going to die!! And curiosity. That's 3.
I like to meet people, and talk to people, and have adventures. And not write descriptions about myself.
PHILOSOPHY
If you're going on a pilgrimage, you may as well be riding an elephant. Pachydermic piety. And if you understood that...
I live my life because I'm alive (all these 'Why' questions ultimately have circular answers). I try to live with integrity, humour, passion, compassion, good friends and Hawaian pizza, not necessarily in that
order.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING
I travel and meet wonderful Couchsurfers. When I'm home, I host, and meet wonderful Couchsurfers.
COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE
So far only with CSers that I've known previously. Best experience would have to be rocking up to a CS friend's farm and being shown to a cottage in the forest which was mine for the week. Absolutely beautiful- thanks Petrilli!
Hosting is always fun, getting to meet someone and show them your part of the world.
Interests
Change all the time, but currently...
Playing music- esp Irish, Gypsy and Balkan.
Hiking in nature, quantum physics, meditation, sustainable living, alternative energy, tango/salsa/swing, exploring the mind, running, technical analysis in trading, massage, personal growth, puzzles, other stuff that I can't remember at the moment. Not cooking- I'm a terrible cook. Good at salads... but let me near heat and it's all over.

Music, Movies, and Books
Music- Gypsy, Balkan, Irish... easier to say the music I'm not interested in. Which is country and western, and opera (where they have the overly-wobbly voices... even their vibratos have vibrato).
Books- Anything on how the world works, on any level. I like a good fantasy (Terry's Pratchett and Goodkind) and scifi. Bios.
Movies- I try not to watch ridiculous kungfu movies, but they're addictive.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
Many amazing hikes and climbs, scuba-diving the Great Barrier Reef, a Vipassana meditation course, playing to a few thousand people at a gig or two.
Teach, Learn, Share
I can impart knowledge, some of it dubious, about a few things: accordion, piano, recorder/whistle, meditation, permaculture, quantum physics, currency trading etc etc. As for learning- if I'm not interested in a subject, it's because I'm dead. Unless it's about shoes... instant narcolepsy. And I can't/don't like cooking.
