Why I’m on Couchsurfing
HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING
I won't be in Romania too much longer but I can answer questions and make travel suggestions about Romania specifically or for Americans traveling in Eastern Europe in general. If you catch me before August I can meet you in Turda or Cluj for coffee, conversation, and travel tips.
COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE
I haven't stayed with a CouchSurfing host yet...but when I first came to Romania I stayed with a "gazda" or host family for a few months. Living with locals is the best way to get to know a place, that way you don't just see buildings and go to restaurants, you get to know the story of a place, find special out of the way spots, and best of all eat food the way that locals actually prepare it!
Interests
Writing, Travel, the "Food Story" of places I visit, Swing Dancing, Gardening, Green Design and City Planning, Science Fact & Fiction, Martial Arts, Sociology, Ecology, and Systems Thinking. Political and philosophical conversations over coffee in an interesting cafe!

Music, Movies, and Books
Movies: I have most of the Back to the Future trilogy memorized but I also like: I Heart Huckabees, Everyone Says I Love You, Fight Club, The Burbs, and The Philadelphia Story.
Music: I like all different types of music and I love finding new artists and sounds to enjoy, but my fallbacks are Paul Simon and swing, blues, jazz, and big band from 1920's-1940's.
Books: I read a lot of humor, I like most things by David Sedaris, P.G. Wodehouse, or Garrison Keeler but Good Omens is one of my favorites.
If I am not reading humor I like popular science fact anything on string theory or multiple universes is interesting.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
Sailed a Brigantine ("tall ship") from Tacoma, Washington to Sitka, Alaska
