Overview
About Me
I' energetic, restless, enthusiastic, always busy and on the run. Working in a youth association, media enterprise and studying communication and politics. Fishers fish, carpenters build, Martin talks ;-)
Baden-Powell, founder of the scouting movement asked us to "leave the world a little better than you found it", a good motto that I try to live by.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
I've been couchsurfing and enjoyed meeting other CS-travellers at different places around the world and also in my hometown (which I wouldn't know so well had I not guided all the folks around - to be frank, I only got to know my own city really well by that means). Every time I enjoyed hospitality, I was overwhelmed by the openess and generosity and only had great experiences until now. Thank you for that :)
Interests
I love being outdoors and on the road! Being a scout, I'm combining the passion for nature and travelling as well as learning new of things (places, thoughts, people, ...). In my everyday life - whenever my jam-packed calender is more convincing than my itchy feet - I'm commited to a youth movement and do political campaigning work (beside studying and working in different media-related operations). Unfortunately, the occasions for me to travel have become very rare but I enjoy the few of them even more.
Should the rare case arise that I had some spare time to fill, I'd happily enjoy it with a glass of beer and a good book (or with making plans for new trips, discoveries or actions).

Music, Movies, and Books
I like political, historic and local-related novels and thrillers like those of John le Carree, I've recently enjoyed Ken Follet's Century Trilogy very much, but Lee Child's Jack Reacher-books are also great entertainment. During the last year I started an addiction to some TV series like House of Cards, Danish TV Show "Borgen", Homeland, Mad Men, etc.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
..climbing a glacier in Norway and almost falling in a huge cleft;
...taking part in the South African Scout's raft-building competition ("Kontiki") where many young people made great ideas actually come to life as they literaly built them and lived on their rafts for a weekend;
...waking to some military maneuvre just outside and around tent during a trip through the Baltics;
...sailing the Ijsselmeer in Netherlands with fellow scouts;
...crossing the world's hugest sweet-water-lake above the clouds, Lake Titicaca in Peru/Bolivia, in a indigenous boat;
...I'll tell you more at the next possible occasion ;)
Teach, Learn, Share
I'm really yearning to play the guitar, that would be quite useful for long evenings at the campfire. Maybe you can teach me... if so, I fear it's going to be a tough job, as I'm awfully non-musical.
