ABOUT ME

I've been told I'm a pretty good listener. Otherwise a useful thing to know about me is that I'm vegitarian.

PHILOSOPHY

I've been thinking a lot about this lately so forgive me if i go overboard: radical self-doubt. A few recent experiences (not the least of which include couch surfing) have demonstrated to me that people are capable of leading radically different lives and holding radically different values from my own and are no worse for it. Right now and all throuhghout history people have believed their own convictions as deeply as I have mine and given this perspective it seems silly to find any idea more enlightened than any other. So I try only to believe just enough to function and be reasonably happy.

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I'm pretty new to couch surfing and so far have participated only minimally by being (I hope) a good guest. I certainly plan on offering others a place to stay when I again have one and I hope I can find other ways to contribute as well.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I've stayed with a few people in a few different places in Europe. All of them have been wonderful and even insightful experiences.

Interests

Film, short fiction, rock climbing, molecular biology, Belgian beer. I'm generally a bit shy, so if you want to get me talking, usually the best way to do so is is ask or tell me something about film.

Music, Movies, and Books

The movies could take a while but here it goes: my favorite directors are Fellini, Goddard, Tarkovsky, Bergman, Herzog, and Allen. I've also suffered through most of Haneke. I very much like Czech new wave as well. Lately I've been listening a lot to what wikipedia apparently calls IDM (intelligent dance music) and (I didnt make this up) post-dub step. Books: Infinte Jest. Otherwise I read a lot more short stories than I do novels.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Hitchhiking through Europe has been pretty amazing so far.

I'm a pretty good cook and would absolutely love to cook a meal for you if I'm staying at your place. I know a lot of good southern Indian recipes in particular. That's pretty much the only useful thing I have to offer.
