Sobre Mim

I'm enjoying my life, traveling, living in different countries, enjoying good tastes, beautiful colors, wonderful smells, meeting all kinds of different people and open to new experiences.

I love reading, nature, gardening, animals (I created a haven for wildlife -lots of bunnies- in my backyard, albeit not entirely on purpose). I seek sunspots wherever I live, much like my cat Max. I lived in a beautiful house in FL, moved to Belgium, now live in France. I just know my next abode will be beautiful too (as long as there is a way for the sun to get in).

Por que estou no Couchsurfing?

Simple: to meet Fellow Adventurers. Really, where else can you find people willing to share their homes, take a peek into their lives, be open to new experiences ... My sister and niece had an absolutely wonderful experience with couchsurfing in Morocco recently. I'm on an adventure, and I can't think of a better way to travel than to share a moment in someone's home. I'm eager and curious to meet you!

Interesses

My exercise consists of moving: gardening -I'm talking digging and mowing lawns and moving dead branches-, walking or bicycling to the store, painting the house, walking and playing with dogs, ... no stationary bicycles, treadmills or weight machines for me ... if I'm pedaling on a bike, I'd better be going somewhere. Being outside, nature, taking dogs for long walks into the woods, looking up at the night sky, or making sure to be up in time to see the sun rise, or finding a good spot to see a beautiful sunset, or notice that rainbow ... it just makes me happy and so grateful to be healthy and well so I can travel and meet others and communicate with them. I've decided that I want to taste yummy things that are also good for my body and well-being, that I want to smell good smells and be surrounded by beautiful colors and a variety of interesting textures and experiences.

Músicas, Filmes e Livros

My new favorite song is "Imagine" by John Lennon. I still love "Country Roads" by John Denver though and Enya has given me peace of mind. I also like Klezmer, Celtic music and bagpipes. Tibetan monks chants and Aboriginal didgeridoo sounds trigger something in me as well.

I want to see Happy Feet again, and the second movie as well (I don't have DVD player anymore though). I think it all has to do with harmony and being in sync. I also saw an amazing Belgian movie (in French) named "Le Tout Nouveau Testament" (The Completely New Testament), a rather irreverent but thoughtful look at God and religion.

These days, everything I read is non-fiction, books about happiness and well-being, neuroscience and epigenetics, metaphysics and quantum leaps of faith into expanded concepts of the time-space continuum ... (a lot of Hay House authors) and I read A LOT.

Uma Coisa Incrível que Eu Fiz

Just recently: I bounced back almost immediately, meaning I did not go to pieces when I lost my wallet with every penny and centime of money, bank card, ID cards, etc... on the way to the airport to travel back to the US after 3 months abroad. I only barely panicked (just a few moments), then remembered to breathe and try to look at the situation from a different viewpoint ... Over the next hour or so, new possibilities arose and things turned out amazingly well. Police officers, loved ones, bank and embassy employees, friends and family all were supportive and kind throughout the "ordeal" that wasn't an ordeal after all. Good life lesson.

Ensine, Aprenda, Compartilhe

Teach, Learn, Share ... exactly! And the words are interchangeable. I learn through sharing, I teach what I'm learning, while I'm still learning it. I share my learning by teaching. And that's one of the reasons Couchsurfing is so appealing. We learn from each other by sharing, by teaching others what we learned ... It's perfect.

O Que Posso Compartilhar com Anfitriões

My optimism, positive outlook, open mind, my gratitude for their kindness. I've also been asked to speak with people in another language (I'm fluent in English, Dutch and French) to practice fluency. I make really yummy salads, I'm great with pets and kids. Very willing to help (can't do heavy lifting though) with all kinds of things. Easy going, open minded.
