About Me

Hello Couchsurfing!
22, living and studying in my second year in Sheffield, UK but getting away as much as I can! I love travelling and exploring new places, meeting new people and learning about the arts and culture of the world and people around me as much as possible.
Back in Sheffield, I'm really active and get involved with as many groups and activities as possible, from cycling and walking in the National Park to the theatre and nightlife we have (which is fantastic by the way!) - and I'd love to share this with anyone that visits this part of the world.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I've had amazing experiences staying with people in their cities in the past and learning about them and their lives and I want to remain a part of this community by being able to offer something in return. It's a massive pleasure to be able to show friends and fellow travellers a little part of my life and my city and the things that I (and I hope you) can enjoy, even if I'm not able to host at my house.

Interests

Having the Peak District national park just 20 minutes away from the city is perfect as a place to get out and go mountain biking (or walking) - I try and get out as much as possible or I go swimming, it's a great stress reliever from studying!
The range of theatre and live performance we regularly have in Sheffield is amazing as something to do in the evenings, it's been a passion of mine for years now and its great living somewhere with so much to offer, as well as so many different music events and types of music that run long into the night - catch me dancing until 6 in the morning (a bit too regularly!)

Music, Movies, and Books

Not a big movie person usually although I have a special attachment to Baz Luhrmann and Darren Aronofsky's work.

Huge fan of Khaled Hosseini's writing - it's so raw, powerful and really tell's amazing stories! Also, I recently read Cheryl Stray's "Wild" which was really good, again very moving. I'm open to reading most books though, except for thrillers that is!

I'm lucky living in Sheffield that we have a huge range of live and electronic music with international artists on most nights of the week! So anything from Disco/House/Techno/Afro influences is what I'd usually go for, but I love World and West African music, mellower Downtempo styles or some Indie Rock for those guilty pleasures!

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Trek to Everest Base Camp and around, 2014.
A full 4 weeks away in the mountains, walking in and out along the traditional route instead of flying in to skip some walking, then also taking a long way round to complete the "3 Passes Trek" which takes in both the Base Camp and also the 2 valleys on either side of it and a great way to escape the crowds. Just a magical experience!

Teach, Learn, Share

Language - communication through learning and teaching. I love to practice and learn other languages and hopefully I can share some of that with you!

I'd love to share a night out or a day together exploring and having some fun!

What I Can Share with Hosts

A friendly smile and and a willingness to try something new! And some food - expect to be cooked for!!
