About Me

I am a single man starting a new chapter in my life. I had been a mortgage banker/broker with 20 plus years in the industry. Now, I'm going back to my first career which is auto sales. I have been in sales for more than 40 years, I consider myself to be a professional salesman. But my years of experience has brought me to look at sales as really helping people find what they need or want. I do not "sale" what I've got, instead I have conversations about what people are looking for and why so I can use my resources to help them satisfy their need and wants in ways that works for them. I am honest and authentic with myself now that I've gotten to know myself better. I examine me daily.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I am starting a new chapter in my life. A new career position in a new location that I have to leave my beloved Petaluma for due to the distance. So I have to find a new community to grow in and into. Couch Surfing well give me an opportunity to meet and get to know new friends in the community I moving to and a chance to get to know the area as well. I am a very social being so I'm always looking for a chance to meet someone and find out who they are. We all expand our horizons through the eyes of who we meet when we can have a look.

Interests

I guess I could say my basic interest is social evolution, how do we as a species exist together. Which leads to politics(I will state right here that I am a die hard liberal), and economics. I was an Econ major at UCLA. I consider myself to be a business man both professionally and personally.

I love hiking and being out doors for everything. I love basking in the sun. Playing and watching sports has been shifting recently to much more watching than playing. I have recently taken up disk golf which combines easy hiking with a challenging activity of throwing a Frisbee disk into a basket.

Cooking and eating with friends is one of those things that is a true interest because I always look forward to the next impromptu meal with new friends. It's like I'd like to plan something so that it happens more often but then it wouldn't be impromptu. The conversations that occur when thinking people get together for something other than to have such conversations, like for dinner.

Music, Movies, and Books

My favorite music is that being played live. I love listening to musicians playing their instrument. My favorite music is Jazz, but I listen to everything. I don't necessarily like everything, but I always like to hear someone who plays well. I also hike dancing to funk, rock, swing or any other music that inspires rhythmic movement.

I like action movies and period pieces that provide a glimpse of historic events. Most of what I read is economic and business related, even historical stuff. I kind of see everything through an economics perspective.

I love auto racing and all things automotive related. I am a car nut from a very early age.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

What is amazing? I've been a cowboy in Colorado, for a summer. Coming from Pittsburgh to find such a job in Colorado was an adventure in and of it self, getting the job was pretty amazing. Rode my Harley to San Diego and back a long the coast. Hitchhiked across the country and all around the Northeast for several years when I was much younger. That was an amazing adventure.

Teach, Learn, Share

Education is an ongoing endeavor in that we can learn something from everything. I am very grateful for the formal education I've received and I continually draw upon my studies of economics from UCLA. But I think learning is what we do continually and the real lessons in life are learned the hard way. Anytime we can share ideas we are in class.

What I Can Share with Hosts

Sharing time and thoughts, ideas, food and wine, and very positive energy. And anything else I have. When we share time and thoughts we share our lives.
