ABOUT ME
Hi! I'm Hobo Greg. I'm an environmentalist, rock climber, artist, and lover of life. I truly believe that every day has the potential to be the best day ever, if you make it so.
PHILOSOPHY
Welcome to this world, have as much fun as you'd like while helping others have as much fun as you're having; and be kind to those you love and be kind to those you don't, but for gods sakes you gotta be kind, and respectful because we're all one soul; be the best fuckin' human you can be!
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING
To date, I've only surfed, but if I ever settle down, I will host for sure! On second thought, why wait, come sleep under my tarp, it's made of ultralight cuben fiber and easily shelters two.
COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE
Amazing, wonderful, life affirming, faith-in-humanity restoring.
Interests
High off peaks and ponds draw me towards their lofty perches. So too does the wonderful weirdness of humanity.

Music, Movies, and Books
Anything from Elvis to Eminem, and I have almost a spiritual need to dance and get into happy mosh pits. Not much different than jumping around a fire in a cave thousands of years ago. I enjoy reading about adventure, history, science, evolution, nature, but will read anything well written.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
I met a female black bear and her cub along a remote stretch of the Pohono Trail in Yosemite National Park. My father and I had backpacked seven miles thus far and were looking for a campsite near Dewey Point when I saw two cinnamon brown ears poke up. She stood up to get a look at me, and while this was my first bear encounter, I was calmly detached. I knew I was in no danger, it being a black bear and not a grizzly. I smiled, and gently spoke to her with my arm outstretched: "Good bear! Good bear!" After what felt like eons but was only seconds, she resumed all fours and slowly walked up and away from us, her single cub in tow, as if we werent even there. We watched them ascend a ridge a few hundred yards away, and with the sun setting directly behind them, their fur was set ablaze in golden tones, a frilly and fiery sassafras. I'll never forget this sight, burned so deep into my mind, and I often think about the wonder of this most amazing encounter. What a treat on what was already the best backcountry overnight a father and son could ask for.
Teach, Learn, Share
I have a trad rack and a rope so if you wanna go rock climbing I'm super down!! I am highly knowledgeable in hiking and backpacking, and I've been an on again/off again professional photographer for about nine years, so if you bought a fancy DLSR and want to learn how to better use it, I'm your guy!
What I Can Share with Hosts
Some hilarious stories that have ensued from living the vagabond dreamlife! Plus I enjoy doing dishes. Oh and beer, good beer.
