About Me
Hola! I'm a 29 year old from North Carolina that is currently on a long 10+ month North America roadtrip with my girlfriend Lauren and dog Oakley in our 1986 Toyota Sunrader mini motorhome. Lauren and I graduated from college in May 2013 and decided we wanted to travel. We saved up all of our money for 2 yrs and then took off for a 15 month backpacking trip from Guatemala through Argentina , where we budget travelled and did workaway/work-exchanges at hostels and farms to make it on the road for that long. After that trip we settled down in our college town of Wilmington, NC and saved all our money again for ~2.5 yrs while planning for our big North America roadtrip and fixing up our “new” 1986 motorhome. We finally left on our journey in mid-November 2018, leaving from Wilmington and heading S through the appalachians to try to quickly get to some warmer climates for the winter months since our sunrader doesnt have amazing insulation. Our unofficial reason for the trip is to see as much of North America (mostly within the US) as we can since we realized in Latin America that we’ve barely seen any of our own homeland... and also to decide where in the US we may want to settle down in for a few years and put down some roots.
We are both very social people and love traveling and meeting new friends. We are planning on couch surfing a decent amount on this trip because with how we are traveling, we aren’t really staying in hostels or anything where we can meet new people, so couch surfing is the perfect way for us to meet locals and travelers alike!
A little more about us...
-Lauren studied Chemistry in College and I studied biology so we both love science, nature, and the outdoors! We are hoping to basically spend as much time hiking and camping as we can and hit all the best national parks/national forests that the US has to offer.
-Our dog Oakley is an 8 yr old hound that is the easiest/best travel companion we could ever ask for. He is extremely low energy (more like “No-Energy”) unless he is outside where he’s truly in his element and goes into hound mode. But he loves to cuddle, doesn’t bark, great with kids, perfectly house trained, and basically just sits/sleeps there until you tell him it’s time for a walk
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
Our favorite part about travelling is meeting people from around the world and learning about different places and cultures. What better way to get a genuine local experience in each city than couchsurfing!
We would love to meet/hang/laugh with you and get to know your current city!
