About Me

CURRENT MISSION

To save life on Earth from the ravages of climate change so my 10-year old son, Noah, can have a future worth living. In my classes at Yonsei International Campus I teach on a range of issues related to building an ecological civilization. My wife Jinny has an English school about a 20 minute drive from our home.

ABOUT ME

Hi, there. I'm Greg, an Assistant Professor at South Korea's #2-ranked university, and have been teaching English here in Korea since 2004. My wife Jinny is Korean and my Korean-American son was born in 2008. My wife owns and teaches English in a school called KidsnReading (see www.kidsnreading.net).

Noah, my son, is a generally well-behaved curious boy that enjoys playing soccer, water gun fights, eating chocolate, and reading fun books. Recently he's gotten pretty good at playing the flute and piano, and will offer free demonstrations to those we host! Noah, for sure, can be quite outgoing once he's settled in and feels safe and comfortable.

Jinny is a bit shy too, like Noah, and does not easily meet new people, but those who meet her consistently tell me she's one of the kindest, sweetest, and warmest people they've ever met. People fall in love with her... I'm jealous!

PHILOSOPHY

Our personal philosophy is to live in mutuality in all our relationships, an intention to connect with the heart, and being in the present moment, even when we're thinking about the past or future. We are alive in order to bring more joy and abundance to the world, and foster a culture of awareness and connection that supports all beings.

We live at Yonsei International Campus in B-dorm on the 8th floor in Songdo, South Korea, a 25 minute drive from the Incheon International Airport.

Our address is having issues getting verified because we living inside a student dormitory, but it is:

#B711-812 Songdo 1 Dormitory,
Yonsei International Campus
Songdo Gwahakro 85,
Yeonsu-gu, Incheon, South Korea

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

We will be open to hosting folks from around the world in our place in Seoul or Songdo, near the Incheon International Airport, BUT we only accept CouchSurfers who have verified addresses and government ID. We now live in a 147 sq meter apartment with a guest bedroom with a single bed, but can sleep up to two on the floor with own half-bath in nearby hallway.. Also, we'll stay with those open to hosting us and treat them with the utmost respect, care and consideration - as we'd like to be treated ourselves.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

We have a little experience CouchSurfing now and have had mostly all great experiences, even better than Airbnb, with great experiences and references. After having done Airbnb, we prefer CouchSurfing if we can find hosts! Woohoo! We are excited to share our lives with new people who are open and willing to share theirs. We think friends make the world a better place to be in...

Interests

Making new friends, relaxing, playing, Permaculture, building food forests, tiny house building, Candidate Trainer in Nonviolent Communication, Mindfulness-based Stress Reduction, and Democratic Capitalism. Strong focus in finding a way to earn a great living there doing what I love. For my son, we are headed to summer camp at Camp West Wind in Portland, Oregon.
