About Me

Hey :)

I recently just made the decision to leave my hometown in Australia for good! I've done lots of small trips anywhere up to 6 months at a time but this time, I'm going out there and staying out! I hope to finance my trip by developing my own online business trading on my skills in video production. I'm only just in the infancy of my journey to reach that goal (and honestly I'm quite nervous) but hey, no risk equals no reward.

I love to meet new people and hear about their life. This is primarily the reason I got into film making. I just like to listen and collect stories.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I'm hoping not only to connect with new people and develop networks all around the world but also create a sustainable way of travelling for myself and anyone I come in contact with on my journey. I haven't been able to host travellers before now but I want to be doing more of that where ever I find myself out in the world. You can rest assured that hospitality will be returned :)

Interests

"Artists who seek Perfection in everything are those who cannot attain it
in anything" - Eugene Delacroix

I love film and the art of screen.
I love to learn.
I love the fact that over my lifetime I will fail at things and have to rebuild myself from the ground up. I love that we are not perfect beings. My happiness is derived from knowing that I will never know enough.

Oh and I enjoy a game of soccer too ;)

Music, Movies, and Books

Favourite directors: Wes Anderson, Steve McQueen (The english one not the american old timey one), Ingmar Bergman, Nick Cave, David Lynch, Coen Brothers, Richard Linklater.

"Waking Life" by Richard Linklater was pretty important to me at one time. Watched when I was in that university haze of heady ideas and philosophies. Some of the ideas in there really stuck with me. A lot of Linklater's films are close to my heart.

I feel like I was born in the 60's with my taste in music. Dylan, Simon and Garfunkel, The Doors.. There's a lot to list.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Dived with Whalesharks! Oh and rode a motorbike from Hanoi to Ho Chi Minh.

Teach, Learn, Share

All of our days are numbered. We cannot afford to be idle. To act on a bad idea is better than to not act at all. Because the worth of an idea never becomes apparent until you do it. Sometimes this idea can be the smallest thing in the world. A little flame that you hunch over and cup with your hand, and pray that it will not be extinguished by all the storm that howls about it. If you can hold onto that flame, great things can be constructed around it. That are massive and powerful and world changing. All held up by the tiniest ideas.

-Nick Cave

Your lands, your labours and your capital can no longer quantify power. Instead power can be measured by access to information and the means to disseminate it. So long as this template for consumerist media exists in our daily discourse we cannot hope for an alternative cultural vision. Unless new information structures are conceived and implemented which reconfigure the existing, then there is no hope for alternate life styles and systems. Instead they will only be a result of the existing process.

What I Can Share with Hosts

I can cook a mean mexican feast!
And if you let me, I'd love to add your story to my collection. Just a snippet of your life interwoven into this great fabric of work that I am creating.
