I came to japan to learn Japanese.
I've been outside of the USA for a few years now traveling and finding my place in the world. I've lived now in 4 countries and Japan is my 5th.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

To see the world beyond just a vacation/tourist, I hitch hike and I couch surf. My surfing is usually with the people that give me rides more than on here so I've surfed that way 10X as much as I have on this site. But there is a reason for this effort beyond saving money.
Staying in a hostel I am with other travelers; and taking a train/bus/plane, people don't usually talk. My travel is not a vacation, I don't want to go to a tourist attraction. I'm here to see the world you live in as you see it. I'm here to know what life is actually like where you are.
This is especially true for Japan. I'm already learning the language (Only speaking and listening for now) and I want to learn all I can. Ill give all I can if only to join you in even just some of your day to day life.
I am here because you are here with me.

Music, Movies, and Books

I'll listen to most music but my favorites would be classical/orchestra ("Two Steps From Hell" is the best), metal, and rock. I'm a huge movie buff, DC over Marvel but they are both great, I just don't do scary movies much. As far as book's, I'm getting more into reading and love books like 1984 by George Orwell and I have dabbled in writing, myself having written a book a little while ago.

But I really don't listen to much music these day's beyond background noise.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I was hitch hiking across a desert in Australia (Don't do that, it's a bad idea, I'm no role model) and I only had enough water for almost 2 days. On day 3 nobody had picked me up. It came to the point where I had to prepare in my head to die. (This becoming the mentality that has allowed me to go to any length for my goals in life, knowing that I can push far beyond comfort) But when I gave up on anybody stopping even with my "Help no water" sign, a white van with 8 seats and 11 Aboriginals pulled over. They got me water, took me home with them for a few days, and gave me a new directive in life.
So one amazing thing I've done; I didn't die and I never gave up again.

I also spent September of 2017 to May of 2018 as an AuPair in Vigo Spain with 2 amazing kid's and in my heart both these stories are equally amazing.

Teach, Learn, Share

I've been to university but graduation was far from the end or limit of my education. I've learned so much about so many things, and I always try to bring an insight different from anything you've heard before.

I'm reading all the time new thing's, I try to learn all I can.

I've also spent my last year doing intermittent fast (only 2pm to 8pm), and taking cold showers (between 2 and 8c), and daily mini "life hacks".
It's all been such a positive change in my life that I'll likely continue it all indefinitely and I am more than happy to share what I have learned.

What I Can Share with Hosts

I don't come from much, but I have stories to tell till I'm blue in the face and experiences to remember. And I try to be open for most anything so maybe we can make the next story together!

I am a certified English teacher (Though I much prefer to speak Japanese as much as possible)
