About Me

Hi friends! My name is Greg. I'm usually based in Washington DC where I am the artistic apprentice for the Lab for Global Performance and Politics at Georgetown University and a producing director at 4615 Theatre Company. In addition, I've been affiliated with the Kennedy Center, Rorschach Theatre, Mosaic Theatre of DC, and more!

Working on a few international theatre projects and that has brought me to Indonesia, China, Thailand, and Denmark! CRAZY! I would love to meet you. Drop me a line and I'll get back.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

At the moment, I'm working with Odin Teatret in Holstebro, Denmark and I'm arriving in Copenhagen a liiiiittle early because I wanted to explore the city since I've never ever been and it's always been a little dream of mine. I never got to study abroad, but I'm super lucky to work abroad, so I try to make time to check out wherever I'm going when I have the chance

Music, Movies, and Books

My all time favorite musical artists are Beyonce, SZA, Daniel Caesar, Chance the Rapper, and Kendrick Lamar.
I also enjoy Marty Gray, Lizzo, Your Smith (Caroline Smith), Summer Walker, Lianne La Havas, Mitski, Lady Gaga, and anything that sounds jazzy/sexy/sultry/written in modes of Indian ragas. I loved my ethnomusicology and linguistics classes in college so expose me to your country's native sounds!

Talk to me about LORD OF THE RINGS (books and movies) and recite Sam's monologue at the end of Two Towers with me. No doubt, love Harry Potter, and other great films that made me go oof are: Moonlight, La La Land, Birdman, Short Term 12, Spirited Away, The Bling Ring, Lion, Disney's Mulan, Pixar's Up, Headhunters, Jongens, The Way You Look, and many more.

I read a LOT of plays, so if you want recs, DM me. Books that were formative for me include the HP & LOTR series, Wild by Chery Strayed; Sholeh Wolpe's translation of The Conference of the Birds by Attar; Emily Wilson's translation of The Odyssey; Arcadian Nights by Jonathan Spurling; the SAGA comic series by Brian K Vaughn and Fiona Staples; Rika Lesser's translation of Siddhartha by Herman Hesse;

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I adapted and directed the world premiere of Emily Wilson's magnificent translation of THE ODYSSEY for the Brighton Center for the Performing Arts (July 2018). Check it out: www.gregstrasser.com

Teach, Learn, Share

I've taught English, theatre, adaptation, directing, acting, and I'm learning Thai and how to be a functioning human.

I've learned that not everybody wants to learn and it's not your job to make them!

One thing to share: FOOD! Eat my snacks/pastries/dinners I cook!!! Let's have a potluck

What I Can Share with Hosts
