About Me

I'm a software developer born and raised in Brussels, Belgium. I'm quite curious about traveling and food in general. I like world music very much (malian, iranian, lately...). I spend my weeks between my job, cooking, swimming, etc.
Recently I started following coursera courses, and once a week I give a one-hour math class.
I don't like to shave. I love taking the tram in Brussels, not understanding one bit of what is being said around me (did you know Brussels is the second most cosmopolitan city in the world? ). I enjoy swimming. I love Brussels sprouts. I love taking pictures of my feet when I'm on holiday. From time to time I look at silly cat pictures. I always wear tshirts.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I've hosted several times, and I've couchsurfed a few times abroad. I think the main advantage in couchsurfing is to get to know the local way of living. not being contrived by what hotels, tours, etc. have to offer or want to offer.

Interests

My interest revolve mainly around IT, music, travelling and cooking.

Music, Movies, and Books

World music in general (especially from Mali - fatoumata diawara, afrocubism, ali farka touré, etc.), electronic music (kraftwerk, laurent garnier, mittland och leo, etc.), hip-hop (common, guru, etc.), classical, experimental (e.g. laïka on radio klara), etc. almost every style of music
books: Soie, Mr. Vertigo, Les Bienveillantes, Leonard Cohen's lyrics/poetry, but I mostly read non-fiction (Michael Sandel, Tony Judt, Leonard Mlodinow, Slavoj Zizek, Matthieu Ricard, Sam Harris, etc.)
movies: The Big Lebowsky, Incendies, Crash, Babel, True Grit, Grand Budapest Hotel, and I do enjoy animated movies as well: Grave of the fireflies, Le voyage de Chihiro, Ernest et Célestine, Kirikou et la sorcière, Birdboy (have you seen this? https://vimeo.com/34658195), etc.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I snorkled with manta rays (up close)!

Teach, Learn, Share

I can teach some basic Belgian dishes.
I'm always keen on learning new stuff!

What I Can Share with Hosts

I can provide a bed for one or two persons. I also do have a couch which you'll need to share with the cats!
Furthermore, I'm willing to join for a drink/chat in the evenings, and if my agenda permits I can show some places around.
I can also share my travel experiences/tips'n'tricks (have you seen this? https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3Untr17W9pw - amazing! ;) ), and what not?
