About Me

CURRENT MISSION

I want to travel to new and exciting places and really get to see them through the eyes of locals. I am hoping to hear and share stories.

ABOUT ME

I am a PhD student in history at the University of Chicago. I am currently spending six weeks in Dakar learning Wolof and doing research, before spending a month in France conducting archival research.

I first got into traveling while studying abroad in France for 9 months. I find it to be a great way to see new places from the perspectives of people who actually live there. I like being a tourist, but I'm much more interested in seeing how people live in different places than reading about it in guide books. I am an experienced traveller, mostly throughout Western Europe. I'm pretty much open to whatever happens when I travel, especially if some new people are joining.

PHILOSOPHY

I want to find exciting and memorable experiences that will show me new parts of the world and different environments.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I started couchsurfing a few years ago when I was in France for the summer. I fell in love with the idea and the open community. I love traveling mostly so I can see new ways of living and new parts of the world, and couchsurfing allows me to do that in the best possible way. I have never hosted, but I have stayed with a lot of wonderful people who have shown me a lot of amazing parts of the world.

When you go shopping at thrift stores, don't try to find a particular item and make sure to go to at least three stores to find the perfect thing.

I can try to teach you how to whistle or tell you a great version of the Legend of Sleepy Hollow and the Headless Horseman
