About Me

CURRENT MISSION

Enjoy life where I'm at.

ABOUT ME

One day, I just figured out that some things are just not that hard. I suppose some things are still that hard, but for those things that aren't that hard, a lot of what makes them seem hard is a result of self-imposed barriers that prevent people from doing a lot of cool stuff. So I'm all about knocking down those barriers.

PHILOSOPHY

I hate philosophy... too abstract. I do things, and that's good enough for me.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

Four couches for ten nights total throughout US and Canada. Planning on going global soon.

Interests

ADVENTURE, sweet things, exotic and faraway lands, Excel spreadsheets, frisbee golf, being conned into (which isn't really all that hard) doing crazy shit, being an art critic, Omani roadtrips, scarfing down schwarmas every other block in Dubai, flying by the seat of my pants... if you haven't had the honor of being a part of my neurotic urges to be in a completely different place without nary an idea or a plan in a very short time period, well, you're either very lucky or very unfortunate, depends on who you ask, I guess.

Music, Movies, and Books

Movies:
The Godfather, All Alfred Hitchcock especially To Catch a Thief, Star Wars, Its A Wonderful Life, American Graffiti, Lawrence of Arabia, Foreign flicks (some I really like, some are so ridiculous I have to laugh, and either way, I win), Charlie Chaplin (especially Modern Times), Disney movies, horrid B-movies that make me laugh due to unintentional comedy.

Books:
One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest, John Irving novels (especially the Cider House Rules), Harry Potter books, LOTR + The Hobbit, Roald Dahl (especially Matilda and My Uncle Oswald), Gabriel Garcia Marquez, The Arabian Nights, Alice in Wonderland, Dune

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Got my ATM card rescued from the bowels of an ATM and got refunded for the money I lost in the process of the ATM crashing on me in the Sinai peninsula in Egypt. The IN EGYPT part of this is what makes this incredible. This might sound trite, but I'm convinced that this is the most unlikely thing that I've ever seen.

Teach, Learn, Share

I used to be a teaching assistant in a Quantative Modeling class, so if there are actually any takers on that one, I'll be glad to help them out. I suppose I also have a wealth of cultural experiences and have good strategies for how to travel entire countries without knowing the language or having a plan (my specialty, I hate planning).

Countries I’ve Visited

Belgium, Canada, Egypt, France, Iceland, Ireland, Japan, Kuwait, Mexico, Monaco, Norway, Oman, Panama, Poland, Russian Federation, Spain, Thailand, Turkey, United Kingdom

Countries I’ve Lived In

United Arab Emirates, United States
