About Me

I'm an enthusiastic, strong minded, easy going human who makes the most of life. I'm a shoemaker and am gradually starting my own business making and teaching cobbling...am also studying community development and currently exploring what my role in educating can be...a big part of my life is Melbourne is based around The Coop, the communal home that I am a part of which is all about sharing resources, growing food and DIY. I'm currently taking a break from that to travel and continue gaining new skills and inspiration for cool and sustainable ways of living and learning. I'm always interested in learning more about gardening/food production and artisan craft but particularly keen to spend more time on this trip hiking, painting, singing, dancing and learning to play my saxophone.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I love sharing my awesome home with others and helping them to find their feet in Melbourne. I've surfed here in Tasmania and in France and Sweden and am currently travelling in Guatemala, Mexico and Cuba and am hoping to surf there cos I dislike touristy stuff and wanna hang out with locals, share some good food and go for a dance!

Interests

People, music, wandering, learning, stories, hitchhiking, communal living, dancing like crazy, festivals, dumpster diving, nature, sunshine, large bodies of water, making things, fixing things, riding bikes, growing things, watching things grow, being silly, quirky people, fresh food/drink and good conversation.

Music, Movies, and Books

Music: currently particularly into afro-beat cos it's so damn fun to dance to but also love soul, funk, folk, hip hop, trip hop, latino, some techno/house, jazz, ambient and even occasionally something more classical.

Movies: not that great at sitting still for too long but when I do I love documentaries and lower budget quirky stories.

Books: I find autobiographies a great way to help me understand other people and cultures and to get a grasp on historical events. Starting to exploring more fantasy/sci fi now too and I'm also a little obsessed with Tom Robbins.

Teach, Learn, Share

I like to create things, be it vegetables, clothes, food or something else so I could probably help you out with things like gardening, cooking, knitting and repairing things.

I can help with English but I'm probably better at teaching Spanish seeing as I had to learn it myself.

I´m very keen to learn any crazy skills or crafts. Currently teaching myself saxophone and getting into singing more if you wanna share music with me.

Sharing is what I'm all about. A meal tastes better with company.
