About Me

I'm a singer-songwriter, part-time server, nature-lover, & progressive. I absolutely love to travel and cross paths with interesting people. I'm pretty obsessed with music and will go out of my way to see a live show, if I'm not playing one.

My partner, Matt, often joins me as my "merchandise handler" when I play far-off gigs. When I studied abroad in Cusco, Peru, he visited me and we had a really amazing experience. Machu Picchu is truly breathtaking, but there are so many under-explored sites that we got to see as well. We volunteered in the buffer zone of the Amazon and unfortunately got really sick and ended up in the hospital. Looking back, it's funny how something as awful as being ill can bring back fond memories.

We like to do smaller trips as well in the United States. Last fall, we spent a little over a week in California visiting Yosemite and Kings Canyon National Parks, and spent some time with friends in Tahoe. The year before, we went to Montana and Wyoming for a friend's wedding and camped in Yosemite, The Grand Tetons, and Glacier National Parks.

I've hit my sort of mid-twenties crisis in which I realize getting a job in corporate America holds no appeal for me. I suspect I'll be making music and traveling around for years to come. Perhaps we'll meet one of these days!

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

As a musician, I do quite a bit of traveling to play gigs and festivals. I love meeting new people and would be open to hosting on occasion, as well (although, I doubt anyone is interested in visiting rural Ohio).

I'm playing at a festival in Manchester, UK, from May 27th- 31st, 2015 and have a gig in London shortly after. Matt plans to join me from May 30th through June
7th. We want to do a bit of traveling around since we've never been to the UK. Neither of us have couch surfed before, but so many people have recommended it to us and now seems as good a time as any to try!

Music, Movies, and Books

Music:
Iron & Wine, Sufjan Stevens, Jose Gonzalez, PJ Harvey, Marika Hackman, Joni Mitchell, Paul Simon, The Beatles, Tori Amos, Tool, Beethoven, Billie Holiday...you get the point-- my taste is pretty eclectic. I'm always open to new artists.

Movies:
Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind, Amelie, Gangs of New York, Apocalypto, Caddyshack, The Princess Bride, The Naked Gun trilogy, Airplane, The Great Outdoors, etc.

Books:
Wild, Eat Pray Love, Jane Eyre, High Fidelity, among many others.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I climbed Wayna Picchu-- the highest peak at Machu Picchu-- and nearly passed out. I lost my footing, but my friend Hanna caught me as I started to tumble. It was exhilerating ;).

Teach, Learn, Share

I love exploring new places, sharing experiences, and having meaningful conversation. I'm not really a party person, so to speak. I like having a glass of wine and going out, occasionally, but you'll never see me belligerent. Hoping to meet like minded individuals, whether I'm traveling solo or with Matt. I'd much rather have intelligent conversation about society, religion, politics, and militarism. I think we, as a species, have a long way to go and we can help start a movement for change collectively, starting with the most supposedly miniscule conversations.

What I Can Share with Hosts

kindness, consideration for you and your home, conversation, and music (I'll play you some tunes, if you like folk music). I'm naturally introverted, but once I feel comfortable with someone new, I'll open up.
