About Me

CURRENT MISSION

To absorb life as thoroughly and presently as I can.

ABOUT ME

I grew up on a rural dude ranch in Montana where my job was to show people the wonder and glory of life in the Rocky Mountains (horse back riding, fly fishing, shooting guns, endless backcountry.......). In winter attended a one room school house and lost my self in the fantasy world of snowy winters.

I have been extremely fortunate to travel a great deal while I was a student. During this time I explored the world, with couch surfing facilitating some of my best experiences. I learned languages, cultures, and new topography. I was exposed to a spectrum of beautiful places and lifestyles that have greatly influenced my own life directions.
While at school I studied Sustainable Agriculture and researched alternative models of urban agriculture in Cuba and Sweden for a year.

After graduation, I took a break of traveling internationally and couch surfing, in order to pursue my passion for rock climbing. I lived in my faithful Ford Ranger and explored the west and south west of the United States. Living in my truck I was extremely inspired by the nature around me and the art of simple living.

My passion for growing food combined with my desire to share my skills and education with others drew me to a farm therapy organization based on the Big Island of Hawaii. I paused my dirtbag life in the desert and moved to the tropics, ready to accept life as it comes! I am hoping to use couchsurfing as a window into the life and community in Hawaii!

PHILOSOPHY

You won't know till you see it, so go!
Run Like a Dog.
Not all wanderers are lost.
Feeling down? Stand Up.
Oh the places you can go!

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I believe in good intentions, and I have found some of the best intention oriented people on couch surfing. I believe in sharing resources, knowledge and experience. Traveling through couch surfing has been the most rewarding method of getting to understand the world around me.
Unfortunately, my current living situation is not accommodating to host people, but I am a great pen pal and a dedicated postcard sender!

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I have surfed in Australia, New Zealand, Sweden, Latvia, Estonia, Denmark, Spain, and Germany!

Music, Movies, and Books

ALL and ANY! But a few favorites:
180 Degrees South, Badlands, The Boat that Rocked, Billy Elliot
Good sounds, great beats, beautiful voices, and everything in between.
The Lorax, 100 Years of Solitude, Practice the Wild, Tao Te Ching,

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Recently I hiked Haleakala, the volcano in Maui, with a 60 year old woman (who was wearing flip-flops). Along the way I learned an array of wisdom garnered through 60 years of intentional life like local flora, animals, folk lore, traditional medicine, cosmic energy, and more. The best advice my dear hiking partner shared was to positively address the worlds greatest problems by taking the smallest steps and carefully using all the resources the earth provides.

Teach, Learn, Share

I strive to teach people by being a role model of how to live lightly with lots of laughter.
I would love to learn anything that can be taught well and willingly!
I am most interested in sharing stories of adventure as well as "secret spots" around the world and our homes. But food always hits the sport too!

What I Can Share with Hosts

I have few material items to share (expect perhaps a wonderful pot-luck/team made meal) however I try to give back to my hosts as much positive energy as I can. I would love to share histories, current rhythms, and future plans. I have found that my life tracks frequently correspond with other surfers and opportunities grow in even the most unexpected locations.

Countries I’ve Visited
