About Me
CURRENT MISSION
To eat breakfast.
ABOUT ME
I grew up in Australia and did what a lot of people do - went to school, then university and then got a full-time job in the city.
My best friend and I had always talked about travelling together and after two years of full-time work we decided it was time. I left Australia in April 2008 and returned three and a half years later.
Since then, I've done a number of extended trips, including to Myanmar, Nepal, India and Sri Lanka.
PHILOSOPHY
To experience as much as possible in the short-time that we all have. Just to live as full a life as possible I suppose.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING
Prior to returning home I participated largely in a surfing role but I did manage to host a few people in Edinburgh. Now that I've returned to Oz I look forward to being able to host more people and showing them around where I live, the best places for cheap beer, as well as helping them acquire the taste of vegemite. Beautiful. Mmmmm!
COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE
Have had some of the most random and unbelievably fun times through CS - can't speak highly enough of it other than to say it was the best thing to happen to my travels since the Australian dollar reached an all-time high one week into the trip.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
I'm almost at the end of a 14 hour bus ride from Cairo to the Red Sea - tired, hungry, dirty - when the engine of this antiquity starts to catch fire. After ignoring the smells for quite a while the driver eventually stops only when the flames are visible from the windows.
So it's 5am in the middle of the desert, the sun is rising over the dunes and there's all these Egyptians throwing sand onto this bus that by now is almost fully engulfed in flames. Those who wanted a more passive role - of which I was one - just stood there, smoked hash and took pictures. Surreal.
Teach, Learn, Share
Any of these sounds good. Learning always good. I'll share what I have materially, but be warned that's it not much. And if I can teach someone something - no matter how small - then I'll be a very happy man.
