ABOUT ME
I'm a very political person (radical populist, hate Bush, etc.) who also likes to have fun. My favorite thing used to be to go to Grateful Dead shows, and now I seek shallow replacements...
I work at a progressive nonprofit, on issues such as clean energy, health care, education, etc.
PHILOSOPHY
Live with integrity; those who've benefited from privilege have a responsibility to give back; your next BMW won't make you happy; we're all in this together--happiness is relative; your work may be your biggest contribution to (or detraction from) this world so think hard about it; settle for good enough on the little things, but not in love
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING
I found out about Couch Surfing while traveling in Latin America. Although I wasn't able to hook up with anyone there (timing, etc.), I ended up surfing when I returned to the U.S. and drove across country from my parents' house on Long Island to my current home in Denver. It was a great experience and I'd like to "pay it forward" by offering up my couch.
Interests
Progressive politics, live music, dancing, basketball (playing and following my alma mater, Duke), tennis, non-fiction with the occasional novel thrown in (currently reading John Updike, love Steinbeck), travel

Music, Movies, and Books
Grateful Dead, The Who, Allman Brothers, Rolling Stones, Beatles, Coltrane, Dylan, Radiohead, Coldplay (my guilty pleasure), Johnny Cash..
Who Will Tell the People (Greider), In Dubious Battle (Steinbeck),
Braveheart (even though I hate Mel Gibson that movie is damn good), Top Gun (ditto for Tom Cruise, but I've got a weakness for his flicks), anything with Peter Guest (Spinal Tap, Best in Show, Waiting for Guffman), Mel Brooks classics
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
Rode a mountain bike down "the world's most dangerous road" outside of La Paz, Bolivia.
