About Me

I ran Swing Goth in San Francisco for years, founded the steampunk convention, Clockwork Alchemy, and worked for Salesforce.com.

I got laid off and had some family matters to attend to in Portland.

I love swing dancing, board games and am a committed progressive. I have dry wit full of puns and a little hint of sarcasm. I break personality tests.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I started on couchsurfing years ago, and i come back when i have a space to offer, or need a space. These days, I'm coming back to the Bay Area for a few weekends over the next few months to do some Reiki training. I'd love a place to stay while I'm there that's in Berkeley and near where I'll be studying.

Interests

Dancing, conversations, strategy, board games, hikes... I'm generally more interested in who I'm doing something with than WHAT we're doing.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

This is so hard. I lead a VERY fun and full life. I throw events attended by hundreds of people and I've taught thousands of people who to dance. I guess the best thing that I can come up with is this....

Years ago I met someone at Coachella and we had a blast wondering around the camp site dancing with each other. Months later she came to SF and called me up. It turns out she was Ray Wise (Leland Palmer from Twin Peak's) daughter. One night she was playing in a club with red velvet curtains and he was there. He stood up when I walked in and said, "Brian, so good to see you again." If you watched Twin Peaks, you get this. If you didn't, then I can't explain.

Teach, Learn, Share

I can teach partner dancing, and/or massage. I've studied both extensively.

In the business arena, I can also teach about Scrum, Agile development, Open Innovation, and Game Theory.

What I Can Share with Hosts

I can teach partner dancing (swing or blues), and/or massage (I'll be studying Reiki, so I'm very open to praticing!). I've studied both extensively.

I can also teach a lot of board games.
