About Me

CURRENT MISSION

To inspire others with my essence!

ABOUT ME

I am an open minded, independent, mature, eccentric and creative individual who was raised by hippies. I'm an only child who went to Montessori school and grew up as a vegetarian listening to classic rock.

PHILOSOPHY

I was born to be different, if everyone was the same the world would be a very boring place. I feel my purpose in life is to inspire others. I am an extremely open minded, positively ambitious person who believes anything is possible if you put your mind to it. Life should unfold organically, you can only plan so far ahead. I try to live life to it's fullest, and gather as many experiences along the way. I believe that luck truly happens when preparation meets opportunity. I have crazy dreams, which everyday I try to make an honest effort at achieving. Also working hard at just being present in the moment of now. It's incredible to enjoy an intense authentic experience even if felt for a short temporary amount of time, as long as you were 110% committed to it. So many people are too worried about the future or stuck in the past. Living life now is what matters most.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I surf and host as much as possible! I truly love this platform for making new friends and opening the door to the global village of genuine human connections!

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I've made random acquaintances in Mexico who were kind enough to offer me a place to stay as a break from hostelling. I've also shared my couch with a couple of travelers in town for the 2010 Olympics. Spent 3 weeks in Spain and Portugal mostly in hostels but CouchSurfing was a great tool to meet locals who shared invaluable recommendations. Met random fellow Canadians down in Panama who live there now and were sweet enough to offer me a place to stay for the weekend when my sailboat stranded me! In 2013 I was fortunate enough to find hosts in LA, Charleston and Calgary. In 2014 I tried surfing in Asia, but it is very sketchy to do so in some places as a solo female traveler so beware! So far in 2015 I surfed for a total of over 3 weeks (half my trip) around Brasil, Uruguay and Argentina! South America you have my heart! Also this year I have been being a local tourist and have been meeting some cool hosts within a few hours of Vancouver which is so much fun to get away for a weekend and make some new local friends who have a little bit different perspective of your own home province. I host when I'm in town or at least offer advice for visitors (I know all the hip spots) and play tour guide in the evenings and weekends!

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Viewing the stars on a desserted beach in Tulum.

Hanging out on Pelican Bar in Jamaica.

Swimming through grottos in Lagos.

Surfing at sunset alongside dolphins in San Elijo.

Hiking through the lush jungles of Costa Rica and being memorized by blue morphos and feeling the powerful rush of waterfalls flowing over head.

Hiking knee deep through mud to get to Wizard Beach on Isla Bastimentos, Boca del Toro

Nailed down using the vast network of subway lines in Tokyo like a local!

Narrowly escaped being struck by lightening trying to get back from Tonsai Beach

Swam in the pristine waters around Koh Nang Yuan

Hung out up close and personal with tigers and elephants in Chiang Mai

Watched the sun rise over Angkor Wat

Haggled deals in Chinatown of Kuala Lumpur and then ate amazing food with the locals in a make shift "restaurant" in an alley, watching soccer at 4am

Surfed the breaks of Uluwatu

Scuba'd 12m below the oceans surface with sea turtles and bumphead parrot fish around the Gili Islands

Ascended a volcano in Maui to catch the sunset and then waited to drown in the breathtaking vastness of the stars and galaxies up close and personal!

Trying LSA on the beach in Maresias, Brasil for the first (and second) time in my life. I feel privileged to have seen the world through a different set of eyes like that.

Sped under Iguazu Falls in a boat, got drenched and did it a second time! Had thousands of wild butterflies cling to my skin as I hiked through this vast and magical park with surreal waterfalls and rainbows every where.

Hung out in the crystal clear aqua water and white sand beach of Porto de Galinhas. Drank fresh caipirinhas and ate the best beach hawker fares.

Went to a samba party in the middle of the Santa Marta favela in Rio.

SUP'd on Kalamalka Lake around Rattlesnake Ridge with a bottle of wine and watched the sunset.

Making wonderful, priceless friends all over the world!

(Sorry couldn't name just one)

Teach, Learn, Share

My favorite part is getting to see the world through someone else's eyes. From my CS experience so far I've noticed the trend of always getting involved in very deep conversations with my hosts/surfers. I love debate and discussing a plethora of worldly topics and sharing stories and experiences from past travels. I'm great with my hands and always willing to help out so if I'm surfing I would be glad to assist you with handy stuff around your house, store or even cook for you!
