About Me

CURRENT MISSION

to see and appreciate the world

ABOUT ME

I love Europe. I love languages, travelling, learning, teaching, and sometimes just "being" - not that I'm zen or anything. I love laughing, but you know, sometimes I like a good cry. I love the little, amusing things that are sometimes overlooked.

I want to get my PhD in art history, I'm just taking the long way to get there.

PHILOSOPHY

learn as much as possible to make a better me.

don't forget to notice the little things.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I've only had one surfing experience, but it was fantastic. In Spain, we couchsurfed and stayed in a hostel...but couchsurfing was infinitely better, learning about people, new cultures, sharing experiences.

Music, Movies, and Books

ok, I'll be honest, and not just put things that are "cool"
Movies: I grew up watching "The Sound of Music" - I wanted to BE Julie Andrews. Other musicals like "The Music Man" and "The Wizard of Oz" and "My Fair Lady" have stuck with me since childhood and are still favorites. I also like most romantic comedies. But then I also like silent films from the early days of cinema. "Battleship Potemkin" is genius and I make all my art history students watch it. Or DW Griffith's work is groundbreaking, as horribly racist as it may be. Oh, and I am totally excited about the new Indiana Jones movie coming out this summer!

Music: I am listening to a lot of country music right now...my roommate calls it "culture shock" oh well, whatever it is, Dolly Parton can't be beat; she's so cheezy and honest at the same time. I also like the Indie favorites like Modest Mouse and Arcade Fire, but they're mainstream now, so can they be called indie? I also listen to a lot of folk music, either in French or English. and in German, I like heavier rock, but still not metal.

Books: another difficult one...I wish I could just list one book that changed my life, but nothing comes to mind right now. I really like Christopher Moore, he's hilarious - especially "Lamb" the story of Jesus told by his childhood best friend named Biff. Highly recommend it. I also like historical fiction and will read that before anything else.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Is it bad that I continue to think that even more amazing things are around the corner?

But I have to say that everytime I see mountains, I am always in awe.

Teach, Learn, Share

I want to learn languages! I can also teach practical phrases (like yelling at airport officials!) in English, French or German.
exchanging cooking lessons is also very welcome!
