About Me

CURRENT MISSION

I am still trying to help clean up the corruption in my small town but now need over a two month break to clear my head...and write.

ABOUT ME

I have been graced with long-time wonderful friends and seem, throughout my travels, to make many more wherever my steps take me. I am also the very proud parent of two terrific daughters...one graduated cum laude at UW, the other studying art closer to home--the University of Idaho. I am looking forward to much more travel and finishing up several works of fiction which have laid on my desk far too long (I have four published works--one a novel, one a collection of essays, one a memoir, one a collection of short stories). Life has been full and I have only gratitude for its richness.

PHILOSOPHY

At eighteen, I encountered the Anthony Quinn character Zorba. I devoured the book, the movie..anything by Kazantzakis I could lay my hands upon. I decided then to live each day as if it were my last. By twenty, I looked down the road and wanted to live without regret...but also decided that if there were regrets, they would be for things I had done rather than those I hadn't. I also chose the difficult path of not believing a single truth unless it was validated by my life's own experiences. I have tried to live deliberately and have wanted to leave a very small footprint. I am still learning.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I am still pretty new with CS so it is difficult to say just how I might be able to participate. For now, I am dipping my toes in the water by making a long drive to Puerto Vallarta along the way hoping to connect with some folks generous enough to share a couch.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

Somewhat of a newbie.

Interests

Grass roots organizing, bleeding heart political causes, writing, reading, playing acoustic guitar, backpacking, body surfing, cross country skiing, snorkeling, gardening (new to this too), collector cars.

Music, Movies, and Books

Books...mostly non-fiction...history, biographies. I enjoy Indie films, subtitled films, dramas.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Parenting two open, alive, curious, loving and honest daughters.

Teach, Learn, Share

Since I have been a grass roots organizer my whole life, I suppose I could pass along some useful tips to those with a cause to promote. My first and last jobs for paychecks were as newspaper editor. I could help those somewhat challenged to find words to express their feelings.

Countries I’ve Visited

Chile, France, Germany, Mexico, Spain

Countries I’ve Lived In

United States
