About Me
CURRENT MISSION
To find the secret of human happiness.
ABOUT ME
I'm a small-town Ohio boy living in the (relatively) big city of Raleigh NC. I went to college in Northern Ohio, graduated in 2008 and have spent most of the time since graduation founding a web startup with my two best friends. At the startup they called me "the businesser" and my job was to take care of any and all tasks that would distract my co-founders from programming.
I enjoy meeting new people and traveling. My latest venture was to Salt Lake City to climb up Mount Olympus. Since I was raised in the back woods of Ohio, I enjoy being outdoors, camping, hiking, surfing, climbing, and doing all other manner of things that make protective mothers cringe.
One of my best friends has a saying: "Nothing bad ever happens." Despite my initial irritation with the phrase, I've come to believe he's mostly right.
I am the founder of a street art group (college), a quantified self meetup (current), I run a personal blog, use Twitter as little as possible, and love technology.
PHILOSOPHY
I am an ardent humanist and take my beliefs from something a good friend once said: "When I was searching for religion, the first thing I decided upon was that the most important part of life is other people. After that you can worry about which God to follow."
I guess I'm a liberal, but I strongly dislike politics.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING
I would like to host people at my new residence, but having just moved in, I don't yet have the place in order. My friend suggested I give surfing a try before I host.
COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE
I've actually never couchsurfed before, despite my interest in the phenomena. Perhaps you can make a big impression on a newbie like myself!

Music, Movies, and Books
I've seen every movie on the AFI's top 100 list, my favorite film is "The Road," followed by "Requiem for a Dream," and then "The Fall."
The best book I've recently read is The Monster of Florence.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
I have founded a successful web startup, lived and worked in Costa Rica for 2 months, took a 1 month trip to India, and learned to surf (a little).
Teach, Learn, Share
I know a lot about technology, but not programming. I can build and troubleshoot computers. I know a lot about practical, applied economics. I do handywork around the house. I've done landscaping, film-making, street art, and graphic design.
I would love to learn more about how cars work and how to get into urban exploration.
