I'm just getting started in this community, and I just can't wait to see where it leads and the impact that I can make.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

A friend of mine referred me to this site, and I referred my boyfriend, who did a little couchsurfing for 3 weeks this summer across the western US.

Music, Movies, and Books

Hemingway and Bukowski are my favorite authors. I listen to all kinds of music, particularly anything that makes me dance or stirs my soul: Scott H. Biram, Ryan Adams, David Gray, Ray Lamontagne, Ray Charles, Pearl Jam, Nirvana, Patty Griffin, and the list goes on and spans several genres.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I've lived in many different cities in two states: Texas-Austin (currently), Ft. Worth, San Antonio, Houston, Humble, Spring, Llano, Marble Falls, Horseshoe Bay, Arlington, Alvarado, Hamilton, Kingsland. California: Oceanside, Vista and Twentynine Palms. The most amazing things I've seen are the Joshua Tree National Park and the drive up Coast Highway in California. I'm partial to Arkansas (pick your jaw up, it's gorgeous there). I've traveled all across the Southern US from Florida to California and all the states in between, but there's SO MUCH MORE I want to see!! My greatest journey so far has been as a mom. They teach me just as much as, if not more than, I teach them.

Teach, Learn, Share

I'm bucking the stigma of the single mom. Even amongst intellectual and open-minded people, children and moms are so often avoided. I'm still a woman, a student, a teacher, a producer, a consumer, everything I was before I became a mom. Vibrant and happy and embracing each year life brings me. It's not only the young, single and hip who are contributors to our culture.
