About Me

CURRENT MISSION

Build community one relationship at a time.

ABOUT ME

I enjoy building community and friendships. I believe that we exist to help each other out. We are all in this life thing together.

Other cultures, languages, and different types of people really intrigue me. I am very open to new ideas and theories about life because each of us have had a unique journey.

I enjoy helping with bicycle advocacy in my town.

I have somehow gotten heavily involved in organizing our community..and I love it.

I am on the board of our local Co-op, Maple City Market.

My wife Jodi works in public relations at the college and sometimes thinks about considering attending seminary someday.

We hope to live in an intentional community of some sort someday. ;)

PHILOSOPHY

"Minds are like parachutes, the only function when open."

Life revolves around relationships:
others, self, something greater

Humans need strong relationships in order to be healthy and whole.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

We mostly have been hosted by others. There just aren't too many people passing thru the small town of Goshen. We have really enjoyed meeting people in their own situations. CS is a great opportunity to get to know someone that you would have NEVER met otherwise. I don't know of another community network that allows strangers to meet.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

We have only surfed twice before. Once in Massachusetts and once in Indiana.

Interests

Growing our own food!
I am gardening a half acre plot this summer with 10 others. It is a lot of fun to be working on a project like that with others.
Community building! The more we know our neighbors, the safer and healthier the world will be.
Transition Towns and Transition Initiatives!

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

- A week-long canoe trip with friends in the open wilderness of the Boundary Waters in Minnesota is one of the most beautiful and picturesque adventures I've taken.
- The Nordhouse Dunes wilderness area in Michigan is another favorite place to admire the sand dunes and water of Lake Michigan.
