About Me

CURRENT MISSION

walk your talk

ABOUT ME

I like:
volunteering (I did 6 month volunteer work in Bolivia and I was volunteering here in Switzerland teaching german to a refugee) hospitality exchange, my homecinema, walking along the beach, watching sunsets, swimming at the bottom of waterfalls, fresh fruit juice, lie in the grass, hugging trees, spend the whole day in my bed reading, long bus rides, latinamerica, the ocean, the Simpsons, sailing, speaking Spanish, flying and watching the earth from above, rice and beans, Gael Garcia Bernal, sloths, thunders and lightning, snorkeling, airports, Coconuts, dancing Salsa, Rueda de Casino, Costa Rica, Socotra, peace, the jungle, deserted beaches, democracy, turtles, dolphins, cats, pizza & pasta, cold showers (only in summer!), my backpack, Bhangra Dancing, dancing brazilian Forró, chocolate, hammocks, sleeping, dreaming and daydreaming, Los Kjarkas, Kala Marka, Greenpeace, planes, rocking chairs, ice cream, candels, teddy bears, cheap accommodation, street musicians, guide books, time, volcanos, fair trade

I don't like:
Blocher & SVP, getting up early, jetlag, cruiseships, human rights violations, spiders, climbing, cold and wet swiss wintertime, ignorance, techno music, racism, McDonalds, cold showers (in winter!), spam mail, SUVs, injustice, word & excel, soap operas, long-distance love, mushrooms, dictatorships, all inclusive resorts, real estate - rich european/US-citizens buying every nice part of the world and taking it from the locals, tourists that just see the places they visit through their camera, prejudice, people complaining about "peanuts", walking dark cities alone at night, hollywood comedies, violence, global brands, Rammstein, weapons, swiss punctuality, casinos, package tours, skyscrapers, watches, Wilma and other hurricanes, sad children, animals in cages

...and then I found that personality test on the internet which describes me as a "Sensitive Doer"

Sensitive Doer: introverted, practical, emotional, spontaneous, sensitive, peace-loving, reserved, gentle, good-natured, independent, empathetic, friendly, playful, carefree, sympathetic, relaxed, quiet, modest, pleasure-loving, loyal, obliging, caring, helpful, optimistic

I especially like:
"All in all, this type is the most likeable and friendliest of all personality types." (Hm... the test says so, not me... *g*)

...but actually one question is not so clear, so this type overlaps with the "Dreamy Idealist", depending on my mood I guess...

Dreamy Idealist: introverted, theoretical, emotional, spontaneous, idealistic, dreamy, effusive, pleasant, reserved, friendly, passionate, loyal, perfectionist, helpful, creative, composed, curious, obstinate, with integrity, willing to make sacrifices, romantic, cautious, shy, peace-loving, vulnerable, sensitive, communicative, imaginative

...but don't take it too serious either...

PHILOSOPHY

"Life is not measured by the number of breaths we take but by the moments that take our breath away."

"It's not how much we have, but how much we enjoy it, that makes happiness."

"Twenty years from now you will be more disappointed by the things you didn't do than by the ones you did do. So throw off the bowlines. Sail away from the safe harbour. Catch the trade winds in your sails. Explore. Dream. Discover."
- Mark Twain -

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I had wonderful couchsurfing experiences with hospitality club & couchsurfing and also outside of any clubs

Interests

travelling (of course! I am actually quite addicted to it), dancing Salsa, Merengue, Bachata, Cumbia, Reggaeton, Forro, hang around with my friends, belly dancing, going to the movies, reading books, daydream of new countries to explore...

Music, Movies, and Books

movies: I don't like hollywood very much, I prefer independent films. Some of my favourite movies: Amores Perros, Voces Inocentes, Central Station, Welcome, City of God, Into the Wild, Hotel Rwanda, Darwin's nightmare, The Kite runner, Los viajes del viento, El regalo de la Pachamama, Baraka ... and many many more!

books: eveything about travelling, one of my favourits: "Reise durch einen einsamen Kontinent" by Andreas Altmann. The Kite Runner & A thousand splendid suns by Khaled Hosseini, White Tiger by Aravind Adiga, The Taliban Cricket Club by Timeri Murari. I also love the lonely planet blue list!

music: latin music (Salsa, Cumbia, Bachata, Reggaeton, Rock en espanol, Forró), traditional Bolivian music (Kjarkas), world music, African Music (Ismael Lo, Angelique Kidjo...) actually since I travelled to Equatorial Guinea I found out about a equatoguinean band called "Las Hijas del Sol" - a great mix of afro / latin / spanish music I definitely love it!
Currently one of my favourite groups is "of monsters and men" from Iceland and "Mumford & Sons" from Ireland as well as ethiopian reggae by "Jah Lude" :-)

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

sailing to Antarctica and beyond on a Tall Ship, watching little baby turtles hatch out and mother turtle laying her eggs, a typical mexican wedding, staying with an indigenous community in the Bolivian Amazon Rainforest, watching dolphins, snorkel with sharks, travel rio Mamore on a cargo boat, the burning oil platforms seen from the beach at night, adopt a Tamandua, paragliding in the Venezuelan Andes, camping at a 2km strech of virgin beach and feeling like the owner of paradise, Socotra, jump from a plane, volunteering for 6 month with a bolivian NGO, getting soaked in the spray of Victoria Falls, feeding wild Hyenas in Harar, snorkel with a whaleshark, see the sunset and sunrise at Lac Abbé in Djibouti, watching into a bubbling lava lake, feeling like being on mars in Dallol... just to mention a few...

Teach, Learn, Share

Hm... let's see... I love dancing Salsa and if you like I can teach you some basics
