About Me
Hi there,
My name is Gu Gu.
I'm really happy to be on this app, as I hope to slowly see the whole world.
I'm currently living in Shanghai, but I used to live in New York, Miami, San Francisco, Taipei, Melbourne, and Paris.
My family is from Cuba. 🇨🇺
I come from a poor family, but I am lucky to have a full scholarship to study computer science at Stanford University.
I really look forward to meeting folks on my travels through this app, as I travel to better understand life around the world.
Looking forward to hanging out!
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
I want to live in a world where people do not feel limited by their culture or geography.
I’m passionate about exploring the world and connecting with new people, and Couchsurfing felt like the perfect way to do that. It’s not just about finding a place to stay—it’s about experiencing local life in a way that hotels simply can’t offer!
Staying with locals allows me to experience the most authentic side of a city. Hosts often share their favorite spots and dishes—insider tips you’d never find in a guidebook. It’s like uncovering a hidden treasure!
I love the idea of building connections across the globe. Couchsurfing brings people from all walks of life together, sparking meaningful conversations and unforgettable experiences. These connections have enriched my travels in ways I never expected before exploring the world!
For me, travel is about learning and personal growth. Every host teaches me something new—whether it’s a recipe, a bit of their language, or their unique outlook on life. It’s a wonderful way to expand my horizons, and seeing the world helps me become more open and inclusive.
Finding affordable ways to travel also means I can explore more places while embracing a more sustainable approach to seeing the world.
Some of my best memories come from Couchsurfing—late-night talks, discovering new places together, and those priceless shared moments. I look forward to hosting visitors when I’m back home, sharing a glimpse into my world with them.
In short, I joined Couchsurfing to create deeper connections with people around the globe and make lasting memories with those I meet along the way.

Music, Movies, and Books
Let's just listen to music together and play some of our favorite songs for each other.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
I don't think 'amazing' is really the correct word, but caring for an autistic child was a moving experience.
Teach, Learn, Share
I'd be happy to teach English, Spanish, French, or Mandarin.
What I Can Share with Hosts
I am a very flexible guest.
Some hosts want to spend time together, and I'm happy to do that.
Other hosts just want to offer a place to stay, and I'm happy to allow them their time, space, and privacy.
Couchsurfing can be about cultural exchange and making friends. It can also be about helping other people fulfill their dreams.
Thank you in advance to all hosts and welcome to all travelers!
