About Me

Hey there!

My name is Guilherme and I live in the South of Brazil. Last year I had the amazing opportunity to work at a Summer Camp in the United States and, now that I'm back, I want to keep travelling!

Music, movies and literature are big things for me. I always try my best to be respectful, polite and am educating myself on the ways I can use my social privileges to help other people. I tend to get on well with all kinds of people.

Travelling by myself has helped me to deal with my anxiety and self doubt. I hope to one day become a filmmaker/writer/musician/translator/lover of all things.

Also, my mom says I'm pretty cool.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

My parents have always worked hard to help me achieve my goals, so now I want to be able to do this thing I love so much - travelling - independently or with friends. After doing research on alternative travelling methods, I found a myriad of interesting choices which not only make it easier to travel on a financial level, but also inspire deeper human connections and relationships - and one of these choices was Couchsurfing.

Interests

It is very unlikely that you will meet someone who can talk so much about movies and books! However, our talks might very well go from deep existentialist conversations to rainbows and butterflies.

I am a very open person who likes to talk about everything.

Music, Movies, and Books

As far as books go, these are some of my top choices:

The Emperor of all Maladies
Looking for Alaska
100 years of solitude
The Stand

And we also have movies:

Blue is the warmest color
Central Station
Dazed and Confused
Gone Girl
The Hunt

Music:

Anything by Hans Zimmer or Gustavo Santaolalla.
Radiohead
Legiao Urbana (a really cool Brazilian band!)
Daughter
David Bowie is also pretty sweet.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

When I was a teenager, my dream was to travel to the US. The years passed and I thought I would never get to do it until I was much older but then... I went there! On my own! For four months! At age 18!

Sometimes it's difficult for me to believe that even happened (but it did!).

Teach, Learn, Share

I can share a lot of things about Brazilian Culture and all things movie-related. I am also an English teacher - if you're looking to brush up on that.

I will read your book drafts and poems and discuss your songs and everything you need help with!

What I Can Share with Hosts

I will bring you a small gift from Brazil (like a cool magnet) and a book written by my dad about local tales from the South!

I can also share local sweets and things like that.

If there's anything else you have in mind, we can talk about it!
