ABOUT ME

I would be a very typical brazilian if it weren't for the fact that I play a lousy, lousy football. I love my home town and country, and had barely left it until 2009 when I went to Europe for a 3-month discovery trip. I've also travelled to the US a couple of times, and to Mexico in 2010 for the Climate Change Conference in Cancun. More recently, I got back from southern Africa where I was for the Climate Change Conference and for another two weeks of some crazy exploring. In Brazil I am a biologist and animal advocate working for Humane Society International, one of the world's largest animal protection organizations.I've always lived in Recife, a big city by the northeastern coast of Brazil, until I moved to São Paulo (the biggest city in the Southern hemisphere!!) in the end of 2010. Since then, I've been living in this completely crazy city while struggling to achieve improvements for the life of animals on Earth. In São Paulo I was (and still am) amazed by the variety and breadth of the social justice movement, and--particularly--by the connection between the movements. It's so, so beautiful when different movements fighting for justice get together and realize that they have so much in common, and that all the social movements are stronger if they are more closely connected to each other.After I moved to São Paulo I've also had the luck to run across The Hub, one great network of social entrepreneurs, innovators, brilliant and passionate people from around the world trying to do good things for themselves, for the others and for the planet.Besides fighting for justice for all animals, I really love travelling, jamming in my guitar or cello with someone playing along, getting to know different people, cooking and sharing vegan food, playing my lousy football and having some good conversation with a beer (or wine, or caipirinha!) glass!Cheers!

We are not here in pursuit of happiness--not only. We are here to also contribute to fight injustice to whoever suffers it. And, above all, we are here to love.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I've used CouchSurfing twice, in Madrid and in Johannesburg. The first experience was in Madrid, where I was supposed to stay just three days at my host's place, but we got on so well (also with his amazing flatmates) that I ended up staying for a whole week! The second one was in JoBurg, after a really-last-minute request I sent and got a warm and hospitable couch for two nights :)Both were terrific CouchSurfing experiences!

Teach, Learn, Share

I could teach the acoustic guitar and/or the cello! Also the fundamentals of the animal advocacy movement, some truth about where meat, eggs and dairy come from, and something about environmental impacts of animal agriculture :-)
