Über mich

CURRENT MISSION

If only I had only one...

ABOUT ME

Hi people of the world!

I am a tall, self aware form of life, with the general appearance of a male human being. Some times I wonder if I'm one of those though...

To be honest, to write a short text that describes me is one of the biggest challenges I've encountered in the last times. Not because my awsome and complex personality can't be explained in plain words. I'm sure it is perfectly possible. But the thing is, I don't quite like doing it. I feel weird talking about myself you know... I would much rather point you to my references. There you'll find other people talking about me. :P

In short, I could say that I'm laid back guy, who likes both challenges that help me grow, and insightful people that can show me aspects of reality that I am yet to know.

Oh, and I can almost impersonate a german speaking person.

Warum ich bei Couchsurfing bin

Like I said, to meet insightful people that can show me aspects of reality that I am yet to know. Come on people, keep up!

I think in a sense we all live inside our bubbles, and connecting with people of different cultures and origins can bring a little spice into our lives.

And also, to learn how to swear in every possible language. :P

Interessen

I enjoy being in nature in general. I regularely sail with my dad, and I've been in the mountains more than once.

Nevertheless, I also enjoy the conforts of civilization. Like watching a movie in the lustfull comfort of my livingroom.

I don't enjoy nightclubs, or any activity that requires being drunk in order to have a good time. If it isn't fun while being sober, it isn't really fun.

Don't get me wrong, I love things like a glass of wine, a beer with friends, or some good old whisky now and then. But I drink them despite the alcohol, not because of it.

Musik, Filme und Bücher

Come on man... what an awfully hard question.

I don't know wich ones are my favorites, but I could tell you that Ends and Means (Aldows Huxley, 1937) is a great essay that would deserve a bit more fame, that I read the whole Chronicles of Narnia waay before they became movies, and that I only finish books I like. I don't feel any guilt in leaving a book unfinished if it doesn't speak to me.

Music I tend to listen to whatever's playing in my head, which varies among a wide range of genres depending on my mood and other stuff.

I do think that every music is worth listening, and that if you profoundly dislike any genre is because you haven't understood it yet.

And movies... nope, sory. Can't pick just a few.

Eine tolle Erfahrung, die ich gemacht habe

I'm going to divide this into two categories: "Things I'm proud of" and "things wild travelers might consider awesome".

One thing I'm proud of:

Founded a non profit organization. :)

One thing wild travelers might consider awesome:

A few years ago I went backpacking to Patagonia with some friends. One day we arrived late at a new town and had no place to sleep. We left the bus, and a guy offered to drive us (and others in our situation) to his camp.

So we happily hopped in the back of this guy's van and drove away. And at some point, I realized we were a bunch of guys in a windowless van being driven through the middle of nowhere to an unknown destination by a guy we had just met. My mind went from "we're so lucky!" to "fuck, organ trafficking..." in a microsecond.

Nothing happened, they were actually nice guys driving us to their camp. But I swear that when the van's door opened I was ready to go rambo and use my ukelele as a deadly weapon.

Lehren, lernen, teilen

I know stuff about very different things, and I'm very patient. So I could teach you how to juggle 2 or 3 oranges, how to play the guitar or the ukulele, how to pretend to play the piano, how to read music, a few poems I like and know by heart, how to install linux on your computer (and how to use it...), how to do the spanish rolling R, speak the actual spanish language, some french or portuguese, how to be ridiculous in front of a crowd, how to be ridiculous alone (much harder) and many more!! (voice echoes with theatrical effect)

Actually learning any of these things is entirely your responsibility though. xD

Being serious, I think that after sharing a over a threshold of time with anyone we always leave something behind and take something with us, weather we intend or not. I only hope that it makes us both a bit richer than before. :)

*This section was written kinda fast, and it's late, and I wanna to go to bed. So no review took place to ensure content quality. Please excuse any incoherences.
