About Me
Disclaimer: Everything I wrote below was written about 3 years ago! Even though most of it is still true, certainly nowadays I'm a different representation of it :) Soon I might rewrite it all, until there you will have to meet me in person and see how the world has been changing to me since then.
CURRENT MISSION
Surviving my PhD!
ABOUT ME
For more pictures, please, go to my Facebook page: https://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=100009246957691
I am enthusiast about life (not the kind from Friends! haha). I love to learn, in fact, I would love if a profession called LEARNER exists! That is so the case I became a theoretical physicist, currently trying to understand the very early universe :D
But I am really into anything, from the most abstract things as poetry, contemporary art, logic, math to the practical stuff as climbing, reading a nice story, watching funny videos on youtube, having interesting talks about life in general, and making calculations in physics (ok, this is not so practical!).
Being a little more specific, I am quite interested in epistemology, logic, math, physics, anthropology, sociology, economy, politics, arts, music, international relations, biology, philosophy, dance, etc. Obviously, that does not mean I am expert on those! Away from that, actually/unfortunately :/
All that interest makes me very interested in talking to people, though I might be a little shy sometimes.
And hey, I also love hiking! If you know any good trails, let me know ;)
PHILOSOPHY
It is hard to be a learner when you discover so many things about the world, including the bad side of it. This yields an urge in me to do something, but I still don't really know what! So, for the moment, I keep trying to live according to my beliefs, hoping that this can at least touch people around me. All I can say for now is that the world is so vast and incredible and it is quite hard to imagine that we still are struggling to overcome difficulties that should no longer be here, as hunger, war, social and gender inequalities, etc. I do hope my life can somehow contribute now or in the future for a better world.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
Meet other people out of my natural academic community and also have the chance to travel to other places and meet locals, have an intercultural experience, maybe even cooking together, why not? :)
Interests
I am very interested in any sort of intellectual activity, but that does not mean I am cold as rock! It is the opposite!
Well, I really like to have very deep and profound discussions basically about anything. To be more specific, I have been discussing with people about ethics, history, racism, feminism, gender equality, happiness, philosophy in general, physics, math, biology, sociology, economy and politics, capitalism and Marxism, social gaps, education, literature, sports, games, etc! Actually, it only takes you being an enthusiast about whatever point you have and we probably can discuss it for hours and learn together about it down to the ultimate consequences :P - usually, beer helps here!
Really into travelling, different cuisines, cities, forest, mountains, beaches, hiking, friendship, cats and dogs (of course!), photography, music, learning, and so on.

Music, Movies, and Books
It depends a lot on my mood, but in general I have a broad taste of music. Have been listening a lot of indie and folk lately, especially while studying.
Have constantly two videoclips in mind: "Elastic Heart" from Sia and "Fjögur píanó" from Sigur Rós.
My favorite movie is "Mr. Nobody". This is a must!
My shelf is usually divided into science, science fiction books and literature. Have been reading a lot of Tolstoi and Dostoievski lately, something about genders, one from Slavok Zizek and others.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
Well, this is more about something random that happened and I was amazed by:
I traveled to a small city in the surroundings of Montreal to rock climbing. At night, we went to a karoake bar with all the group to sing, drink and have fun. Arriving there, I see two men playing pool: the old and the older one. The latter decides to sing, so that the former invites me to play with him. We play for a while. Later, I sit with the old at the bar and we start talking. It turns out he was from Canadian Air Force, a fighter pilot. He fought in the Gulf War for 3 months and then left asap because he couldn’t handle the psychological pressure. We talked briefly about brainwashing that is made in order to understand each attack/bombardment as a mission, never as killing other human beings. While we talk I notice that he was wearing a jacket with his name, the name of a company and some corean symbols written on it. It happens that after the war he became helicopter designer and held an important position in the company, so that when he traveled to South Corea to project helicopters, he received that jacket with his name and the name of the company written in French and Corean. When would I expect for all that in a local bar in a small city in the surroundings of Montreal?
Teach, Learn, Share
I want to learn about other cultures, cuisines, ways of living that are not my own.
I can teach about the laws of the universe, math, science and discuss general knowledge that I might know something.
We can share basically anything!
