Overview
About Me
I'm in a 1 year interchange studying Molecular Biology in the University of Sheffield. My field of interest is Synthetic Biology, and both in Brazil and England I have been working in Do It Yourself Biology and the connexions between the academia and society, believing that we need to turn knowledge in practical applications that can really change the world. I played handball in different teams in the past 7 years as a goalkeeper but left the sport due to my studies. I played chess and won several tournaments. After some years away from the boards, I'm coming back to the sport in the last months. I write a book about science fiction. I'm a scientist-writer-handball-chess-player, and I think this is due to my love for life and all different experiences that it can bring.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
More than travelling to different places, this is about meeting people and experience everything that they can share. I think couchsurfing is a completely different way of travelling and a much more deep opportunity to understand a place.
Interests
Science, sports, literature and, of course traveling. But I'm ready to start a conversation about basically any subject, so if you want to discuss about the penguin population in New Zealand, I'm ready to that.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
One amazing experience in my life was the iGEM (International Genetically Engineered Machine) competition. Thousand of young scientist really wanting to change the world and make it better. Since them I have become completely fascinated by the ways that science is changing and how you can help that from your home. I want and I am part of that.
