About Me

Hey! I'm a very calm person who rarely stresses about anything. I'm a good listener and love talking about almost anything. I like doing exercise, playing games, watching movies, listening to music, and tend to prefer socializing in a calm ambient, but also like clubbing occasionally. Balance is very important for me. And obviously, travelling is one of the things I like the most. Also, I don't smoke and would rather avoid being around people who are smoking, if possible. (Most times it isn't so I don't mind dealing with it).
I live by the motto of not doing to other people what you don't want them to do to you, so I tend to be very respectful of religion, habits and opinions, but I'm a very regular user of dark humor and sarcasm, so I may joke about some sensitive topics. This only comes when I know the person I'm joking with to be perfectly fine with it, of course. I tend to be tidy and dislike living in a mess. I have been living by myself since I was 16 years old, so I am used to doing house chores and keeping things relatively clean and organized (except when in times of school/college induced stress for exams and evaluations). Also can't stand dirty dishes waiting to be washed for more than one day.
I've travelled a lot and can't get enough of it. From family vacations in Spain, Italy, France, Brazil or Cuba to going to England with a friend to Road-tripping alone through Portugal and with my sister through Angola.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I've had an interest in trying Couchsurfing for some time now. This comes from my relatively recent wish and need of travelling. I don't like to travel in big groups, and if possible, I'd rather do it alone. I dislike having to do everything other people want to and skipping what I want to do so there's enough to please most of the group. But I also love to meet people and create many memories with them.
This summer, 2019, I am going to interrail through 12 countries of Europe with a friend of mine and I want to be able to meet locals and enjoy the cities the most I can with company from people who know how to do so, and in the way, get to make new friends, maybe for life!

Music, Movies, and Books

I can appreciate at least a bit from many genres of music. But Indie, Jazz, Blues, Lo-Fi, Classic Rock and more are definitely some of my top ones. To list a few bands, Rolling Stones, The Strokes, The Black Keys, Queen, Beetles, Gorillaz, Portugal the Man, Velvet Underground, The Doors.
Movies with good story and complex plot points are my favorite. Sci-fi, fantasy and comedy are the genres I like the most. Can't decide weather my favorite movie is the first Butterfly effect or Interstellar, but you get the picture. Some of my favorites are The Life of Brian, Monty Python and The Holy Grail, Pulp Fiction, Inception, Django, Harry Potter, Alien and Dinner for Schmucks.
I feel like Series should also be included here. The Office is my absolute favorite and I can't get enough of Steve Carell. Black Mirror, Silicon Valley, Breaking Bad, Westworld, The Haunting of Hill House, The end of the Fucking World, etc. Some Anime as well like Steins Gate, Attack on Titan, Fullmetal Alchemist, Hunter X Hunter and so on.
It's not that I dislike reading, but it doesn't go beyond Harry Potter, Dan Brown, Fullmetal Alchemist and Attack on Titan Mangas and Portuguese books I had to read because of school.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

If I have to select just one thing for this, it is without a doubt teaching.
I was an assistant teacher in my college, in charge of practical classes of Digital Systems (although I would also lecture my students about the theoretical part because almost all of them skipped those classes). I have enormous respect for teachers, and I felt very honored to be able to be one. Helping everyone in need, seeing people grow, encouraging them to pursue further and almost dying of stress by the end of the semester trying to help everyone and do my work at the same time was without a doubt, the best experience I've had.

Teach, Learn, Share

I can share my work on video and image editing and photography, but I'm very amateur, so it works both ways. If someone is willing to learn what I know, or teach me more, I'm all in for it!
As I've said, I was a teacher, and plan on being one again next year, so I can teach you stuff from computer engineering!
Also, goes without saying that I could teach you Portuguese and that would love to learn at least the basics of some different languages!

What I Can Share with Hosts

I would love if my hosts could show me around town and give me tips on the best things to do and see. I can share very good vibes and stories, my taste and opinions on diverse subjects. I can teach them some basic stuff about computers, if they want to.
I am not an experience cook, and would honestly like to taste local food, so I don't mind inviting hosts for one reasonably priced meal in a typical restaurant or do the groceries if they would rather cook at home. I volunteer to do the dishes if that's the case!
